USS Tripoli loaded with dozens F-35B fighter jets Arrive Subic Bay,Philippine
US brings advanced F-35B fighter aircraft to Philippines for the first time on aircraft carrier USS Tripoli (LHA 7).
Manila, F-35B Lightning II advanced fighter aircraft aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tripoli (LHA 7), with Marine troops from the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force led by the 4th Marine Regiment, arrived in Subic Bay on March 25, 2024, in support of the Philippines in preparation for Special Operations in the South China Sea.
According to reports, the United States and the Philippines are about to embark on Special Operations in the South China Sea involving thousands of troops and, for the first time, advanced F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters operating in the region.
This deployment is as a special operation between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States, and also involves participation from Australia in operations in the South China Sea.
"We are excited to visit the Philippines for the first time since the carrier USS Tripoli deployed to the 7th Fleet," said Captain Colby Howard, commanding officer of USS Tripoli. "This operation is a great opportunity for the Philippine Navy and our allies to enhance our ability to operate together in the South China Sea."
