Those are Philippine owned oil rigs. Most likely, the Americans would probably help with the conversion of those rigs to become a proper military outpost. Besides, America is not allowed by our law to construct any naval base inside our territory without our consent. Have you forgotten? China constructed a huge military base inside our EEZ. China should be the one castigated not the Americans. All our actions are in response to China.

This is really good as a deterrent defensive system 🙂 Using existing oil rigs will be very cost effective, I’m also looking forward to when we build more mobile floating defensive platforms (that will have ship hulls instead of pylons, with the same general footprint of an oil rig. These systems won’t move fast but they can move on the water, saving valuable coastline real estate and allowing for better customizable defensive coverage that can be a bit further off the coast and allow better intercept of missiles, drone swarms, and hostile ships / aircraft. They’re especially suited to the Philippines and Taiwan (especially Taiwan having limited island area)

Those oil rigs will mitigate a huge problem for the U.S. Navy in the Pacific - how to rearm ships' vertical launch systems without returning to far away ports. This has the potential to more than quadruple the firepower of the U.S. Navy without building more ships. At the same time, the Navy is also developing a technique for reloading vertical launch systems at sea and while ships are underway.

Well, you can re-write the PI history and publish it. That's the only way to address your issue

There was a post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie that revolved around something similar that came out recently. I think it was called "The Last Sentinel" or something like that.

Just imagine a cruiser or destroyer being able to float underneath one of these "Missile Resupply rigs and have their entire MK41 Vertical Launch Tubes replaced as one unit or perhaps in modules holding 12-24 missiles each. Might speed up rearming our ships a lot faster than having to rearm at a friendly base. If there were two rigs available, one can fire and defend while the other can resupply.

Looks like a highly combustible static target. Unlike an island, it will sink too. Based on two minutes of consideration, it doesn't seem like a good idea.

The Philippines needs to bring back the military bases inside the philippine territory and its exclusive economic zone. China will not stop bullying the Philippines devoid of military power.

Anyone notice that this innovation is extremely coincidental to Elon's landing flatforms and his interview with the officer concerning extremely rapid transportation of troops and materials to distant points on earth?
