USS Gerald R. Ford arrives in Oslo May 24. 2023

This visit, the first by a U.S. aircraft carrier to Norway in over six decades, is aimed at strengthening the U.S.-Norway partnership. Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram, during his tour of the ship, emphasized the importance of the visit as a demonstration of the security guarantees through NATO, particularly Norway's close ties with the United States.

Restrictions while the vessel was in Oslo
"Inner Oslofjord is now a restricted zone. Operation of aircraft - including drones - within 0.5 nautical miles (926 meters) of military vessels is forbidden without prior permission. The restricted area also applies at an altitude of up to 3,000 feet (914.4 meters).
Aircraft can operate normally outside the restricted area of 0.5 nautical miles and an altitude of 3,000 feet.
First global assignment
The USS Gerald R. Ford is on its first global mission. The ship accommodates a crew of 4,500 and 90 aircraft and helicopters. The ship sailed from Norfolk in the USA on 2 May. It passed through the English Channel and on into the North Sea. USS Gerald R. Ford is named after the 38th President of the United States. It is the first aircraft carrier of a total of ten in the Gerald R. Ford class. The Gerald R. Ford class will take over from the Nimitz class and is the first new class in the US Navy in more than 40 years"

Don't deceive yourself and don't lie to people! There is no friendship and there never will be! You have attacked Norway, in fact, America can only destroy countries (for example, Iraq). Russia is not what it used to be. We will beat all the fascists, as in 1941-1945! Anyone who is not a fool understands that it was Russia (the USSR) that won the Great Patriotic War, and stupid people do not even know history and mistakenly think that the United States and other countries allegedly played an important role in the victory over fascism... Sooner or later, everyone will find out the truth that there are real heroes in Russia! And the NATO fascists will get in their teeth!

A nimitz/ Gerald ford can carry, arm, support, and deploy 75-90 aircraft that can accomplish 240+ sorties a day. the readiness rates are also going to be far higher on a carrier, meaning more of those 90 on a carrier are operational /flight ready with less downtime.

Norway have a border with Russia. These days it is more like us Norwegians thanking the US for bringing USS Gerald Ford and parking it right in the middle of our capital. There are no practical reasons for doing that, most large allied ships go to Northern Norway. This visit by the USS Gerald Ford to Oslo is a big FU to Russia. It shows the strength of NATO while our neighbor Russia is going to war against Ukraine. When the US parks its newest and best floating war machine in downtown Oslo to visit their Norwegian friends, it is a hugely important message for the US and Norway to send.

@@carolnelson9269 lol.......how can I explain something to someone who obviously don't understand the most elementary things about ships.... It was claimed that "...nothing compare to it it's massive...". Fact: There are tons of ships which is bigger / more massive.... So here we talking are about the size of the ship. How many planes it can carry is irrelevant. That since the weight of 70 air planes is almost nothing..... Any cargo ships, even small such, carries multiple times that weight. So until you can separate between ships and planes I've nothing more to say.....

Forget the Political crap for now. Just imagine the awe the People of Oslo are seeing first hand and up close. They have never seen behemoths like this in person ever. Puts quite a perspective of size and scale against the Beautiful Surroundings.

I live on the island the ship is anchored by. Tiny roads and it feels like the whole of oslo drives in to see. There is chaos here every day now because people want to see it hahah. And in the city i hear more english than norwegian now because of all of the sailors😂 Talked to some of them, they’re chill af
