Terrifying: Two U.S. Carrier Strike Groups Operating in the South China Sea after a Massive Show of Force
Washington D.C., July 5, 2024 - U.S. Navy has released footage of a massive combined show of force in the Philippine Sea that included two Carrier Strike Groups, two Amphibious Ready Groups, and a ‘helicopter destroyer’ from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). Days after these drills, China sent dozens of aircraft into Taiwan's air defense identification zone, or ADIZ, including the rare appearance of a Shenyang J-16D electronic warfare (EW) aircraft in Taiwan's first known ADIZ raid. Currently, the Navy is directing both carrier groups towards the South China Sea, the northeastern corner of which is within Taiwan's ADIZ.

An official statement from the US Department of Defense stated that this operation was carried out as part of the US obligation to support regional allies and ensure free and open maritime security. However, China has responded harshly, describing this presence as a dangerous provocation that could disrupt peace and stability in this strategic region.
