Mustve been a very humbling experience for these guys. I give my respect to the Corps.
Basically, training / conditioning people to filter out noise and confusion in order to think and function properly. Handy thing to know, frankly, im a LEO who has learnt this skill from 10 years of experience... its awesome to possess the ability to face chaos and be immune to its white noise.

I love this shit. It brings back a lot of memories from my time on the island. We gave up every single right we had. You even had to request permission to speak. I remember this inspection well. We had one person pass out of forty. I remember I had to drink my own vomit. I had a good friend be forced to low crawl through someone else's vomit. Good times. Semper fi to all of my brothers out there.

I think out of all events during a 12 week cycle, the SDI inspection has got to be every DIs favorite
Im 36. Been out for 15 years. And fought in Iraqi Freedom and I STILL get anxiety just watching this.
2:05 Cracks me up. If you’ve experienced this, you know you don’t have to be able to hear the Drill Instructor to tell he’s laying into that recruit. The hand gestures tell it all lol
My hardest part of basic at MCRD SAN DIEGO was Receiving Barracks. I was in shape when I went in so PT was fun. I enjoyed the confidence course most.

I have a question which I hope someone who has been through this can answer; not some kid on the Internet who thinks they've watched enough videos and played enough games to know... When the drill instructors (could be wrong, just going by video description) are going along the lines, to each recruit, and the recruit is shouting back, do the instructors care about how strong or weak/ strained the voice is, as long as they are shouting back? What I mean is that when I was is Air Cadets, I know it's a whole different experience, but one of our staff made up shout like this when we were doing drill, and I absolutely loved it; the feeling and the intensity of it. But they would always say that once your voice started to strain, you could go back to normal talking. I know in the Marines, there wouldn't be the option of talking, but what do they expect when your voice begins to go hoarse and hurting to yell at this volume? It's just interesting to me. I don't think I could go through this training, as in my current point of life, I don't think I'm mentally strong enough to withstand the high pressure these Men and Women do every day. But I am very interested in the life of these people. Thanks to anyone who can help. I'm sure I will have more questions while watching the rest of this and the suggested videos down the side!

No they are still always going to yell at you even if your voice is dead but they will see if you're really trying and if they see that your trying but your voice is gone you'll be fine because that's what they like to see because then you know your putting out 100% effort.

I have no idea what DI would be yelling so all i could respond with is Aye aye sir. Intense. DI's are wild lol.
When in doubt and you have fully grown men yelling in your face spitting at you with a tsunami of saliva yell, "AYE SIR!!"
this right here, is why, when "IT" hits the fan, I was always happy to know the Marines were just across the way from me, like the movie said, "They will spill their own guts and ask for seconds". I'm an Army Vet and we had some hardcore Soldiers, but nothing comes close to the sound of 200 Devil Dogs about to breach your command post.
During our SDI inspection, I was asked a question and I was thinking. The answer was “Yes sir” and as I was starting to answer, the SDI asked if he was talking to the invisible recruit. All hell broke loose as I yelled Yes sir. Ah, the good ole days.
This would be super damn hard to keep my bearings! I would’ve been stuttering and frozen cause of how much I’ll be so confused. They all look so speechless and confused and so nervous but GOD DAMN they kept their cool. January 29 I’m leaving!!!

In the last two wars, do a comparative body count. Considering these men are going through similar training to fight ISIL that was used to fight the Taliban (and Al Qaeda) and the Iraqi's, I put money on these men doing the killing rather than ISIL and American confederate....
This is the recruits first exposure to an inspection...all this culminates with the Battalion Commander's inspection.
