Some links we referenced in today's video are below, but today's video mostly focuses around how you can power #Wyze #Cams and how you can run different types of cables to them.

    Great video as always man! I stuck an indoor in the window with a small hole cut out of the window screen , and the weight of the windscreen is pressing down in that grey foot . I know it's a ghetto setup but it has survived some hasty windstorms and it's even doing well with the hot afternoon sun beaming down on it for hours . My wyze can outperforms my smartthings cam by a huge margin

    Thank you for this video. I liked the idea of using RTSP! However, I was hoping that you would talk about IR light extension lights and/or lens modifications for using the Wyzecam v2 outdoors. I love these cameras, but besides the obvious issues with weatherproofing, they also have a very short range IR lamp and the lens is too narrow a field of view. I looked into IR lamps but they are all enormous and would be unsightly to attach to the small camera, and I've heard of lens replacements but I haven't researched this yet.

  • @AutomateYourLife

    @AutomateYourLife

    4 жыл бұрын

    Wow 50 Pan Cams around a site! I think you would want to look into Blue Iris and a laptop/PC for monitoring. It takes a bit of setup, but then you'll be able to do just about anything you can think of. In order to do that, you need to install RTSP on your cameras and they will essentially leave the Wyze App at that point. You can test one or two out and then see if you want to revert. support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026245231-Wyze-Cam-RTSP There's only one other method, and that's based on a notification going to a tablet and then having that tablet use Tasker to go and download the clip to the tablet. Then I'd use something like Dropbox to have all the videos instantly upload.

    Hi Terk - This is a great question for a future Q&A on Wyze products! So there are a couple of options for you here. Here's what I would look at. Every time you get a notification from Wyze about a motion notification, use Tasker to open the app and then download the video to the phone. Let Dropbox automate that upload with the phone application, and then your PC can sync that for you. Every so often you'll want to empty your Dropbox online folder so you don't fill it up and end up paying for storage.

    Really it's just going to be person detection that helps with this.... That's your only option.

    @@AutomateYourLife OR... Cut off the IR lights on the cam and add a IR light above or below the cam some feet. So the bugs go there. I had to do this at my house for my outside cam's. ( Not wyze ) I had bugs all over my cam's all the time at night.

    I run a wyze cam over a poe (usb to ethernet) and it works... but every few days, i have to do a hard restart and unplug the power to get the camera working again. All my other cameras work fine. Do you notice anything like that?

    You know...I hadn't noticed that! I feel like maybe you're having little blips on power and putting the initial connection through a battery backup might help. That it you have voltage drop!

    That looks like a messy combination of cable connections. Too many points of failure for my liking. I'd rather just buy a genuine PoE camera like a Reolink RLC-520 :). That's just me though. Thanks for another Wyze Tips though. A very nice series :)

    @@AutomateYourLife When it comes to cameras, what are your thoughts on the best Wired camera (preferably with PoE). Just thinking it might be good to show that we don't have to rely on "Wireless" (which still need a wire for power anyway, or constant recharges)

    Automate Your Life with a big project that might take 24 hours you can watch the progress of the print, and look out for things that might go wrong. The printer can be loud so I keep mine in a little used room
