Using the Sony CX405 as a travel camera

Welcome to the channel. Today we ask the question "is the CX405 a good travel camera?". This is an older camera that only shoots in 1080p and doesn't give you a lot of flexibility when it comes to your settings. So, is it a good travel camera? I took it on a recent vacation to find out. I have a 405... and am extremely happy with it... I've used various high end video cameras... I remember using the Sony HVC 2000P with the so called porta pack in the early 80s for TV news... Steady Cam didn't exist.. so you learnt how to walk and 'float' the camera. Apart from being unbelievably heavy it was very user friendly.. All the cameras of various qualities I've used inbetween have had some niggles.. I nearly bought a Panasonic V800 or the 700 but the 405 has the edge... on many levels.. One tip is to use the X... setting which is MP4.. and remember to insert the SD card the right way.. I think it's perfect for KZread and general use ... and some footage has been used on TV. If you want 8K (with all the complications) then this camera is not for you.

For a camera enthusiast, the audio levels are terrible on this video. Clipping, balance, and levels were all bad,
Love mine it's just easy to carry and does stills and videos to a high standard and it cost me £99 UK and my phone powerbank 20000mAH runs it for hours direct to its strap based usb if the 60min built in battery runs out. I use a £17 video converter (works mac or PC) and it's' then my webcam. Not a pro camera but it does most things and is light and easy to take to gigs and out on walks in your coat pocket. Some of the videos we make don't get looked at so unless your compiling videos for a living this is a great family camcorder for a bargain price.
