Using The Save Point Device In UEFN (v26.30)

Here's a quick tutorial covering saving player information in your game in UEFN with a bit of Verse but mostly triggers for now. I'll do a follow up tutorial when they get the Verse functionality in for this thing.

    Great video. Do you think it will cause bugs if we have more than one save point devices in a single island?

    It does not. You can use more than one to control saving information on different areas

    I have a sequencer that moves my prop from X to Y. I have my sequencer set to force keep state. However, when I reload the game, the prop goes back to location X. Are you able to help?

    this is normal. If you want to remember state between rounds you have to use verse persistence.

    Can the "tracker" device be saved through this system as well? I have dozens of tracker devices that serve as quest progress for the player.

    Not that I'm aware of. You'll have to mess around with saving odd resources to track that and save

    If the player purchases stuff with coins in a level, do you think the save function will save the purchased stuff Graeme?

    only if they are a resource or in inventory

    Hey im trying to make a zone wars ranking systema and trying to save the players score but I have no idea what device i need to use in verse in order to display that score, the score only lasts for the current round that is on and i cannot find any tutorials.

    the score doesn't show up well in UEFN, you have to publish to a private version and test there to see the default score list (set in the island settings by the way)

    I tried it and now it saves the score perfectly after each round however now the new problem is if they get more score it resets the value from 0 and adds from there 😭

    Ok nvm idk what I did but I deleted a random tracker and it fixed, thank you sm for everything. Now all I have to do it make the actual rank system. Hope u make a video on it eventually cuz u explain things very well!!!

    I have a ranked 1v1 map, where i want to track and save the amount of eliminations of each player. Im dojng this through the tracker device but it is not saving data for this device. Do you know why and if there is a workaround?

    @@GraemeBull yeah i got the same problem, tracker device tracks eliminations but then when you rejoin the game it clears all score and all elminiations even though player on spawn is load and save

    Same problem here, I have a suspicion that the device only supports 1 round games but I might be wrong, have you found a fix?@@numesis9513

    I don't think you can specifically. You'd have to make a function that checks what class and/or team they are on and do something

    just make sure the location saving is checked in the device and you should be good

    The save device is so bugged right now. It's not saving scores correctly. And that's a BIG bug. I hope it gets fixed quickly.

    Since EPIC handle's the persistence, does that mean I can have a 2nd map I publish load persistence data from my first map? Having a global shared set of data saved between maps would be a dream come true, because then you could make a fully fledged RPG, which is quite simply impossible in any sense unless you could minimize island data to exclude each island's models and stuff, but have character progression mainlined into all of them so you can have that RPG experience. I exhausted the rpg tag and was sorely disappointed with what I saw, and since STW is ruined and dated, being able to facilitate your own game through FN as a base via 'loading screens' (aka seperate islands) then that'd be awesome. That would let multiplayer gamemode creators create more than one map, let other people create maps for your gamemode, etc. RN it seems mediocre at best, even the recent additions with lego racing and festival, where there is no player made contributions that can be made, which is what would make it awesome. I have Wipeout Fusion styled map ideas buried in my skull that can't be designed for racing or a modified gamemode of it because of how closed off everything is due to monetization throwing out the platform in isolation.

    @@GraemeBull you 100% can, maybe not directly in UE in a blueprint or whathaveyou, but alternatively I am not talking about the limitations of UEFN, and trying to create something for others to enjoy. Would just need to point to the file, I've seen steam games do this, fangames, etc. But as for Fortnite I understand there isn't anything to emulate this, although maybe someone might find some jank for it. In any case I like polymorphing games with level designing capabilities into completely unique experiences. Since degraded my scope to a 1 minute arcade thing that will use faux endless themes instead of a linkedtogether set of worlds. I don't have time to setup anything fancy is why I asked, otherwise would try and come up with a save sequence of some kind you enter the code for, but I would have wanted free roam so I scrapped thought for that as well.
