Multiview switcher is one of those features, that once the technoogy (iPad and iPadOS) caught up, was inevitable. Kudos Adam for pursuing this UI, it makes so much sense.

One of the BEST apps I ever bought for my iPad! If you are on the fence, buy it today, Adam's has been consistent with adding useful functionality!

Thanks for putting this video together. Just when I think I have seen all the features of MixEffect, another useful one magically appears :). I would love to see the process that is used to develop this app. I am a retired App Development manager, who "grew up" through the programming ranks for a large company. I know the hoops my team had to jump through to get software to the end user. I can only imagine how you come up with the requirements, design, code, test plans, etc... The app is very impressive. Keep up the good work. The Pro version is a bargain for anyone who uses ATEM switchers regularly on both IOS and M1/M2 Macs.

There’s a great deal of informality with how I write, develop, and test the app compared to how it’s done in a big company. Such is the life of an indie developer! I think it could benefit from a bit more structure, like unit testing, a better bug ticketing system (right now it’s either in my head or in the Notes doc), and better code documentation. I tend to write the user-facing docs at the same time that I write the feature. The app is segmented into modules for each functional area. For instance, separate classes to handle DSK, USK, SuperSource, etc. so hopefully when I make changes to one area, it doesn’t affect the others. When I do make changes to a class that affects multiple modules, I do tend to test more or have beta testers kick the tires before I release.

It would be nice to pull the video feeds into screens.

You have to go through the Remote Webview panel and get Remote Webview working properly: read this for more details: docs.mixeffect.app/configure/remote-webview docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-pages/panels-and-buttons/remote-webview Once you do that, you can activate the Multiview overlays and accomplish what is shown in the video.

I do support using VDO.ninja with Remote Webview and the Multiview Switcher Overlay panel to bring in the live Multiview. I'll have another video on that in the future.

The Multiview Switcher will work with the original ATEM mini, but it cannot be used with Remote Webview and the Multiview Switcher overlay to show a real-time view of your MV. That’s because the ATEM mini doesn’t have a MV. The MV switcher replicates what the MV looks like, and you can add images to your four inputs for customization purposes.

The Media section has an uploader feature. Make sure you are on Ethernet when uploading. Still working on improving reliability (sometimes ATEM disconnects during upload). I don’t have the new switchers long enough to make new Stream Deck profiles unfortunately, so the Extreme and Minis are the only ones I have at the moment.

Love the updates Adam. I have the older Atem Mini which doesn’t have supersource or any of the other advanced features. That said, I have never been able to select pictures on my iPad and put it in the media pool. I verified settings allow all pictures and I can take snapshots. But when I select an image and then select slot 1, MixEffect loses its connection (like a reboot) to the Atem and no image is available. Am I doing something wrong?

The upload image process is very finicky about its connection. Are you trying to do this over wireless or a wired Ethernet connection? I've seen the disconnect problem over wireless (or VPN) connections. It's something I'd like to improve in the future, but I don't have a timetable. There's actually a warning that appears (you might have dismissed it) before you upload images warning of this potential problem. It's also documented in the known issues page on the MixEffect documentation: docs.mixeffect.app/support/troubleshooting

@@AdamTow thanks Adam. I did miss that. I have tried this with both wireless & using Ethernet and it fails every time. It’s similar to a permissions problem when an app doesn’t have it. With this new M2 iPad my wireless speeds are the same as when I do a speed test when wired (over 850mbps). The 6e wireless on the iPad is blazing fast. I should mention my network is only 1Gbps. The 6e Wi-Fi is capable of 5.4Gbps

@@AdamTow I recorded a video, but the Feedback link does not work. Only options are Website, Twitter and Documentation. The Feedback is greyed out and I don’t use Twitter. What I can tell you is that I am using latest Atem software and I’m using a 12.9” M2 pro. Both devices are hard wired via Ethernet using the exact same switch. Network is 1Gbps and I have swapped cables to verify. I have tried images of different sizes including 1920x1080 to avoid processing. This is what happens: I easily select the image and MixEffect asks which slot. I select the slot and MixEffect looses its connection and the ball starts spinning. But here’s the thing. The entire Atem is dropped from the network! Sometimes the Atem recovers and it’s back on-line. Today however, every time I use MixEffect and select an image, the Atem is blown off the network and the only way to recover is rebooting the Atem. That’s what I’ve been dealing with since day one even with my old 2018 iPad.

Hi Adam. I can't seem to be able to get my source images to show. I am using the mini pro and I don't know if it supports the feature. When I edit the url in, it changes the window but only to black and just removes the source name. I have tried with and without a space after the colon as suggested in another video. I would love to see this feature automatically in multiview so the sources can be seen.

@@AdamTow Yes I followed that as well as another video on the topic. The only difference was he put a space after the colon but yours didn't mention that. I thought it may be a format problem. I have tried both jpeg and PNG but haven't checked the file size. It's not a big deal as I have them all named anyway.

Adam, I've tried everything to get mix effect working again, but it's not. It was perfect before but suddenly it won't connect. And when it does, it goes into simulation mode... though I didn't add it as a simulation.

If it's going to the Simulator, that's because you're pointing your Switcher Connection to MixEffect itself (127.0.0.1 or the current IP address of MixEffect). Modify your Switcher Connection to point to the IP address of your ATEM switcher, which you can find by running the ATEM Setup application on your Mac/PC. It's recommended to set a static IP address for your ATEM so the IP address doesn't change in the future.

Hi Adam I am using MixEffect 30 day trial but I can’t see my cameras in multi view mode. I can see color bar display in preview and program but others doesn’t display. Using an iPhone 11 Can you help please

Read sections on Remote Webview and the Remote Webview switcher panel in docs.mixeffect.app. By default, the Multiview Switcher does not display live video. You can display static images easily, but getting video requires some more effort. It is doable, so read the docs and report back if you have problems!

Quick question, would I be able to hear the audio going into the atem through the iPad app?

No, audio is not currently routed through the webcam at the moment. I may add this in the future.

The ATEM Mini Pro does not have any options to configure the Multiview layout unfortunately. Only the ATEM Mini Extreme models and the TV Studios, production studios, Broadcast Studios, and Constellation models support them.

will this also work with the ATEM Mini?

The original ATEM mini lacks a Multiview, but MixEffect can simulate the Multiview with the Multiview Panel on that ATEM. No ability to display moving images, however, like with the other ATEM switchers.

Don’t have a video on it. Basically, you take the text file, translate the strings on the right side of the equals sign. You can send it back to me, and I can get a new version with the localization added.

I got it yesterday this app work almost good with my Blackmagic Design ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD but the first iPad I can set MULTIVIEW but the second iPad I can not add MULTIVIEW. Can you help me this issue?

Make sure the iPads are running iOS 16. The Multiview Switcher panel does not work on iOS 15 and earlier.

You need to read up on Remote Webview. By default, Multiview Switcher DOES NOT show live video. Read these two docs: docs.mixeffect.app/configure/remote-webview docs.mixeffect.app/configure/switcher-pages/panels-and-buttons/remote-webview

Good to know. For those reading the comments, your iPad needs to be iPadOS 16.2 or higher to take advantage of the Multiview Switcher feature.

hi admin this video is well made. Do you know about Sling Studio? and can this MixEfect also be used in Sling Studios? because Sling Studio doesn't provide update version!

MixEffect does not work with SlingStudio. It can control an ATEM switcher that is connected to SlingStudio via the HDMI port.

yes thank you but in this mixefect turn on the LIVE GO button just like in SS. I broadcast live mostly in rural areas. and the atem mini pro will stop and stream the live broadcast. I don't know why. i like the LIVE GO button on the SS app. because the live broadcast will not stop until you press the STOP button. It's Mixefect and you need to control live streaming on KZread right on your iPad. just like in SS.....

@@user-lh4xk4ce8r If the ATEM Mini Pro is stopping the stream on its own, that's the problem of the ATEM's streaming feature. Maybe your internet connection isn't as good and the internal software/hardware in the ATEM isn't as good at handling this like the SlingStudio is. MixEffect is essentially a controller for the ATEM. When you tap the Start and Stop buttons in MixEffect, it's just like pressing the physical On Air and Stop buttons on the ATEM.

Adam, Great work on this. I'm continually pushing the limits to what I could previously do -- all because of your work here. A2Z Productions had a whole series of macros to utilize with companion that did some really cool stuff with the Super Sources. I've been able to simplify this and eliminate almost all of my macros by using MixEffect Pro and the companion native interface. People who see it are floored at the possibilities, and I'm losing sleep at night because I'm having too much fun playing with it all. I'm not sure where you'd like to get feedback/feature requests, but on my ATEM Constellation 2M/E, I can turn a timer on/off for Aux 1 (evidently, ONLY on Aux 1). This is a toggle that places the timer display on top of whatever is selected on that output. Could you potentially add a toggle for that output on the Aux page so we can cut this timer display on/off? Thanks!

Full control of the timer/counter overlay is in the Output tab in MixEffect. There are also controls for it via OSC and Shortcuts. docs.mixeffect.app/automate/osc/messages/counter-overlay

Wow -- I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this is not only implemented, but done even better than I could have hoped for. I had looked at the output tab already, but I missed the fact that there were sub-tabs, so I missed both the counter and the timecode tabs. Thanks so much for the super fast response!

@@plrpilot You bet. Happy switching and counter overlaying! With the OSC commands, you can animate the counter overlay and have it move around the screen, resize, etc.

I captured the output of 1 of the multi views on my Constellation 2m/e to an NGINX RTMP Server I set up on a Raspberry Pi (also running Companion). I used ffmpeg and sent the output to HLS. I then combined the Remote Webview with the Multiview. Got the idea from “Here to Record’s” KZread demo. I so amazed this is working. Adam you're incredible!!!

The performance is surprising good on WiFi. I've also tried the encoding to nginx using OBS, that may be easier for others. I'm considering using an encoder from Teradek or Kiloview. It would be nice if we use an rsp/rtsp stream to make it all self-contained with this encoders, but I don't think they would be as efficient as hls.
