Hi Matt, Lincoln Wright here! Just found your channel, I've been totally missing out on the KZread goodness. Great figure, thanks for sharing your work with pastels but man, that tree branch and sakura rock!!!

Paint on Plastic Thanks man. Yeah, I've been chronicling my builds on KZread for about 7 years now, especially if they were/ arw commissions. That way my clients can see where their money is going.

So out of curiosity, do you then only base coat your colors and then go in with the pastels, or do you do pre/post shading with your paints and then add the pastels for additional contrast?

Ranger_Chris61 I do both. It really depends on what I want to do. This kit was solid base coats no shading, and then a little pastel work.

Great tutorial ! You said that before you applied the chalk you made sure to clear coat the model , does that mean when your done with the chalk you use the clear coat again to seal it ? Newb here but can you also continue painting after applying a clear coat ?

Yes, I seal each step with Krylon Flat, hit it with a hair dryer and keep going.

I think you can get the disposable sand paper for charcoal/pastels that way you don't use the good stuff.

Do you clean the brushes after wards or replace them so you don't contaminate other work? If you clean, what do you do to clean them?

Ty Melrose Not really. I just tap them a few times to get all the loose stuff off.

Matt - thanks for the great video. I have a question for you. I work with resin model horses using pastels. I have found that in a couple I had in storage had whites faded to yellow. They were wrapped in toilet paper and put in a plastic box. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should or shouldn't be doing to prevent this. I used only Testors Dullcote to finish. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. Thanks so much for being there. Appreciate you being there for us.

The pastels turned yellow or your paint jobs turned yellow?

@@mvm3897 Thank you for your reply - the portion of my project that I had pastelled with white pastel turned yellow.

Can the pastel color only be sealed with a top coat spray or can hand brushing also work? Was thinking of buying some pastels after watching this video but I just remembered I only have a brush on matte top coat (thinned with water)

Spray is better. Otherwise, you may disrupt the pastels and move them around.
