Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I show you how to use chalk pastels to shade your 3d prints if you don't have an airbrush. You can also use them as pigments powders for your miniatures or printed models.

Just tried this. Absolute game changer for me. I can’t believe how easy it was to get subtle, smooth skin shade transitions. I’ve always struggled mightily with even the thinnest of washes. Thank you for sharing!!!

Outstanding, love this!!
You can add alcohol to the shavings to make an ink as well to really get great shading effects.

Yes you can! There's a lot of other effects you can get. I just wanted to cover this particular one.

1y too late, but the alcohol thinned powder shouldn’t be applied to lacquer painted surface, right?

@@yw9686 If the lacquer reacts to alcohol like it would to a solvent... then yes, obviously you should avoid doing that. But you wouldn't be using alcohol inks anyway.
Cool effect!
I actually learned this from the sideshow collectibles channel glad someone else is showing others how to do it....total game changer seriously 👍👍
Wow! Pastels looks like a great method! Thanks!

Wow awesome video. The way you get the powder from the pastels is a whole lot better than the way I used to do it!

I just got an airbrush, but I have noob performance anxiety, haven't put paint in it yet! I just got back into the hobby, but I've been into different arts all along. I had some art supplies, so have tried shaved pastels. I like the effect, but it doesnt stick as well as I'd like, even on a flat surface. I have tried charcoal pencils with some good looking results. Plan to airbrush over that shading on a Dauntless. Will be my virgin voyage into airbrushing and shading for that matter.
Thanks for the video :)

One big benefit of using chalks over airbrush is no overspray. You need to mask and tape a lot of parts every time you want to do shading, even small areas with a 0.2 nozzle. Chalks just need brushing over the part you want shaded.
Great video, Henry! I use pastels on all of my prints. Lol, I was just about to make a video on using pastels. Are you reading my mind? 😂😂 I'll think up something else to cover. Talk to ya soon! 😊

Would you recommend this method for female characters make-up, blush, eyeshadow etc? I've actually been thinking about this for some time now, great to see this video

Yes, definitely. I use this method on all of my female characters. This was the way I learned years ago.

I was wondering about this also, if you could use cheaper powder makeup off Amazon or from the Dollar Tree made for little kids. Lots of colors there, especially the goth stuff.

@@Chef_PC That too, I don't see why not, it's all oil based. I think for smaller statues/prints, soft brushes might give us more control than a airbrush, for all that make-up and contouring.

I tell you something I get so overwhelmed by painting I've been trying go master eyeshadow on female figs and I just can't do it with a air brush my hand slips or I just can't find the right pressure needed to do a light dusting I get so annoying and say hey I'm done selling my kit I'm out can't do it so I'm gonna find some chalk pastels at my local shop and try this I will get good at painting if it's the last thing i do I find I try and live up to everyone else's standards of painting I see what other have done with the models I got and go yeah ill do that if I take some time and it turns out completely different or don't look half as good it's kills my confidence and makes me more determined to do it

Have you tried using crushed pastels? Seal the face first the use pastels. If you screw up then you can wipe it off with a damp cloth. Print you a head sculpt for practice and give it a whirl. See what happens.
