Using multiple properties of exponents simplify the expression

👉 Learn how to simplify expressions using the power rule and the negative exponent rule of exponents. When several terms of an expression is raised to an exponent outside the parenthesis, the exponent is distributed over the individual terms in the expression and the exponent outside the parenthesis is multiplied to each of the exponents of the individual terms of the expression.
The negative power rule of exponents states that a power with negative exponents is equivalent to the reciprocal of the power with the positive exponent.

When someone comments about how this guy helps them to understand better than their teacher does, it doesn’t mean they dont pay attention in class and their not downing their teacher. Mr Mclogan just teaches everything in a specific way that makes so much sense. I always run to this channel when I run across something I need help with.

I'm doing an advanced math course this summer, and there was one unit that I really struggled with. Thanks!

Thank you dude. I'm taking a math course online and the resources have been lacking...this video taught me more in 5 minutes than the pre-recorded lectures ive been watching. An actual example similar to what I've been seeing on my assignments, step by step in plain English. My professor zoomed through the exponent rules using the most primitive examples, then we saw problems like this on the homework and it seemed so foreign as compared to the examples he showed us. This is what I needed!!!

How come the x^-2 goes on the bottom? since it has a negative power, shouldn't it go on the top instead of the bottom? Confusing.but nice work though.

It is already at the top with the minus sign so it went at the bottom. Had it been at the bottom than it would have gone to the top.

Great job teaching the procedure for simplifying the expression. At the end of your tutorial your video is blocked by other video previews. Sometimes your work on your board is blocked. I don't know if this is something you have control over. This occurs on all youtube videos, the idea is that your should be done before they obscure your boar
