Using Kenmore washer & dryer model 41172 for the first time.

When our dryer went out we bought this set. So far I have done 5 loads and love it! Instead of getting the pedestals, we are going to install a counter top above them.

Made by LG in China. We were looking at a Maytag set before this (our fridge now is Maytag) but Maytag is now manufactured by Whirlpool. Maytag is now the Whirlpool top of the line and much pricier than we could afford, next is Whirlpool brand, then Amana, then Roper brand. Our last set was frigidaire which I was unwilling to trust because we had a dryer and fridge that went out shortly after purchase.

How are you all liking the set currently? My grandparents have the LG Steam version of this washer, and we are thinking of buying the 2019 Kenmore version. Just thought I would get an insight to make sure we are buying s quality product.

Melissa Dickinson Yeah its not like ur fridge. Kenmore connect is basicly to service ur set if need be (hopefully not). Service techs can connect to it and ✔ different stats to help troubleshoot issues.

I just bought this set yesterday and it takes forever! And it seems like not enough water washes the clothes. Did you have same problem??

It has been so long since I had my old set, I can't remember if it took longer, I usually just use the normal setting. As far as the water, all our clothes get wet and come out clean. I stopped using the tray and just toss a Tide pod in the drum before I load. I always leave the door open to let it air dry afterward and never had a smell issue. I also have tide packets of washing machine cleaner and throw that in it once in a while.

Also, save the shipping bolts for if you move. We put them back in when we were moving.

This is my first front load washer. This seems to use a lot less water than my previous old top down washer. If I set washer to normal/auto settings, it doesn't seem to use much water...but the clothes come out fine/clean. I use non-scented detergent in the tray. If I have something soiled and know I need a good wash, I change the settings soil settings to heavy & washer adds more water. If I were to rate this washer/dryer, I would give it a neutral rating. No issues yet / clothes come out clean. The main gripe I have with this washer is having to leave the front door and tray open to avoid mildew growth/mainly at the gasket. This prevents me from closing the bifold closet door at the laundry area. And the noise is my next gripe. I can live with this for now, but will definitely be buying a top down washer whenever I get my next washer/dryer.
