Good explanation! In this case, if I mainly adjust effects on the external unit, other than the input levels, what should the knobs on the mixer be set at? Also, the mixer’s own effects are not used, should the knobs be set at zero (0)?

My PMP4000 doesn't have FX return. Can i do the same method like the way you show how compressor effect were connected at Insert for FX pedal?

what about real stereo-signals from synthesizers with sounds that are panning in the stereo-field? - if I use channel 1+2 in the mixer (ch1 panned to left, ch2 panned to right) I have to use aux1 on ch1 and aux2 on ch2 to get real stereo-signal in my fx-pedal right? ... but how does a stereo-channel behave? is it soldered internaly automatically from line-in 9 to aux1 and line-in10 to aux2 so its working in the same way as with two mono-channels?

i wonder if EMI / noise reducing power strips work as well

If experiencing noise, and your equipment is old (or you live in a humid environment), cleaning the ground terminal inside of electronic device then reattaching it to the chassis can eliminate all the noise. I use pipe cleaning brushes in a drill to remove oxidization in XLR connectors: the increase in sensitivity and restored clarity is fantastic. I have built RFI filters but have not found them useful.

How many speakers to connect the mixer.. It's possible four speakers

Yes. You can add speakers. Connected in series is safe. Parallel connections divide the resistance and nearly double the volume, but then you run the risk of permanent damage to the PCB if the impedance drops below 4 Ohms. Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel may be OK, if not cranked up too much. One 8 ohm + a 4 Ohm or two 4 Ohm speakers is a risk. Connected in series, the speakers will require more power but without risk of cooking the circuit.
