We just got our samples of the adhesive backed insignia cloth for another project and thought, "Hey, this might be a good material to repair one of our vintage Sunfish sails." After watching your video today, that is what we are going to use. Lightweight and strong, no sewing needed. Thanks for posting the video.
I've always been told to round the corners. I would also offset the two patches (front/back) slightly so you don't end up with as much of a stiff edge.
Thanks. Cheers Pete
thank you from Swe
Neat stuff! How UV resistant is it?
The Dacron Adhesive Tape above is not very UV resistant, but we do sell other tapes that have a special coating to make them very UV resistant. Go to sailrite.com and type this in the search box "UV Tape".
Would be nice to see a video showing how to sew the patch onto the sail. Not sure if the diagonal stitches should all be on the patch or overlapped onto the sail and patch.
Probably a good idea to clean the sail material, first, no?
I'm looking for this stuff, where can I buy?
I want sail cloth
@AgentZax Hello, you can buy this material at sailrite.com or call 800-348-2769.
So that's how you put a piece of tape on. I never knew how before now.
If you could turn the volume down so we can't hear you at all, that would be great!
