Hi Sandy, these paintings you did are mesmerizing! I'm afraid of Brushos but you tamed them!!! It's raining here, my kitty cat is snuggled up to me and we are watching you paint = purr-fect!

Thank you, Sandy! This video was so helpful to a complete novice like myself. I only had grade school watercolors and showed no innate talent ( actually my efforts were very embarrassing) so by the time I was in the 6th grade I never signed up for art again. Now at 58, I find to my surprise that I am teachable and that good supplies are important! It's like being 10 again and having an optimistic approach to creativity! Thanks, I will be subscribing!

Great video, PETA! I'm totally new with Watercolouring so know Nothing! The more tutorials, especially like this one, the better! I'll be looking around for more of your videos because not only do you make it look easy & doable, you are calm, talk about what you're doing & why. This is comforting to a newbie. Lol. Thank you.

Sandy, I just love your watercolor tutorials! I also love it when you give your opinions regarding possible purchases. After watch your assessment of the Painterly Days watercolor book above, I decided to try it out. It looks like it contains a much higher quality paper than some of the books I have already tried. Can't wait for my copy to arrive! Thanks for the info. I appreciate it very much.

I know I already left a comment a few days ago. But my Painterly Days book has arrived, and it's the BEST watercolor book I have ever tried! The paper is amazing - it doesn't bleed through even though I used quite a bit of water. Thanks again for bringing this book to our attention. :o)

These books look wonderful. I am interested in which # brush you used. When I looked up the link all I found was the Black Velvet Brushes. Are they the same? The brush you used seemed to work very well with the size of the drawings in this book.

Do you mean pilling? If you work it too hard, yes it pills a little. Good practice on keeping a light touch. :)

no i don't know the word pilling.. Cockeling.. When the paper makes a few bumps due to a wet in wet painting. I ask as I don't know or see what the paper rate is.. 90lbs 140 lbs 300 lbs as in water colour paper.. ok

Thank you for the video on these books. I have been afraid to purchase it because some reviews have really criticized the paper pilling and not being able to lift colors. I'm thinking their using too much water. I'm new to watercolor in the last year and have taken classes and watched videos. I thought this book would be fun to practice painting florals and improving skills. What do you think of the paper. You see to have a positive feeling of the book.

  • @SandyAllnock1

+Bonnie Shapiro remember it's not watercolor paper. Can't expect zero pilling if you overwork. Just use a light touch and it works great ❤️

Great review Sandy and these Painterly Days coloring books look awesome. However, my problem is "seeing" the individual flowers/leaves in these more detailed drawings. Do you know if there are painted examples of each of sketches? I'd love to purchase a coloring book to try out but no sense of buying one if I can't decipher the sketches:( Thanks for the review Sandy and your colored work was just GORGEOUS!

When I got to the end of your video I saw and loved the still life bouquets book. One person online said lines are very pale. This is concerning. But I love your work in the book. I am no where near that level. But I think these types of books can be so useful to improve skills. Do you think the pictures could be photo copied on a darker setting onto other paper. Either mixed media or watercolor paper.
