The Metal Zone in front of the right amp will produce the exact tone from Accept's Balls to the Wall album lol. The MXR Fullbore Metal works even nicer cuz it has that built in noise gate

This is a smashing idea. I'd record with many of the in the loop sounds and I was thinking naw won't work. I'd also like the front sound @ 1:40 . Good but not focused.

I have the exact same Planet Waves and Fender cables! Pretty good quality stuff I must admit. My previous Planet Waves cable lasted about 10 years as a bedroom player. Oh! And nice video! I have a metal zone'ish clone pedal. I will definately try this. See if I can get my Orange TH30 to sound a bit brighter/Mesa/Swedish.

Simon i use it in a similar fashion, as a booster and eq, in front of Ampeg SVT and it sounds really articulate and clanky with my P bass. Mt2 is a very touch sensitive pedal, a lot of great bass sounds can be achieved with it.

I have one of the Keeley MT-2s and just put it in front of my 20w Jet City amp. I had the gain nearly all the way down, level at unity, slight boost in both treble and bass, mids at noon. The character of simply having the pedal 'on' really shapes the signal interacting with the amp. It sounded a lot more like a tightened up metal sound as opposed to a looser feeling hard rock tone. Dirt boxes are great to use as an overall preamp, you just have to be sure to keep the gain knob low. This is basically the same concept that everyone uses with a tube screamer into a high gain amp.

Indeed, the metal zone can act as a limited but usable parametric EQ, which is fairly decent in range compared to other pedals. Considering you can find these for mere pennies sometimes, it can be quite useful for tone shaping IF you can live with the extra buffer added to the signal path.

Russ Wilson true but thats true of any eq or boost pedal pretty much. you could however eq the clean channel on the amp to work well with the added eq or just roll the volume off on the guitar on the dirty channel (its what i do) but if youre doing vocals at the same or need a pristine clean not the best or you could do the tap dancing thing

The MT-2 is more versatile and tweakable but the HM-2 is surely more iconic and unique. As a boost in an already distorted signal, tho, the Metal Zone is very subtle while the Heavy Metal gives its touch if used that way too!

There's a guitar called a Les Paul, I think that's what its called, Some company named Gibons or Gibson or something, they say they make nay amp or pedal sound good. So, I like Yamaha stuff, but for what your doing? Use a LP or an Ibanez RG or a Dean 350 (Vinnie Moore "Vinman") or something with a nice full humbucker tone cuz whatever is going on (and I like the Boss metal Zone), this vid does no justice, its not the pedal, its the guitar.
