I usually import the SVG straight to Bambu Studio. My biggest learning curve has been making the SVG’s so they load right in Bambu. If it’s text on a circle for example I just add a primitive disc in Bambu and scale to the size I need. Then import the SVG text and put it together. I’m not sure if the tinkercad step is needed.

One day I will be as well versed in this but I enjoy learning from you. One tip... For art type projects, I've started to change the top layer infill pattern to hilbert curve over monotonic as it gives the top surface a cool textured look. You may want to try it!

Hi Macy, I like your shop life and how you showed it to us. I don't own a bambu. But I saw in other videos the coloring tool in bambu studio. So my question is now, why you are separating the stl in tinkercad. Can you just upload the whole stl in one piece to bambu studio and doing the coloring there? Best regards from Germany Flo

Hi! Thanks for watching :) I separate in tinkercad because painting in the slicer is pretty tedious and it's easy to miss parts, especially with the more intricate designs. It's easier and faster to import each part as its own color rather than painting it. If I have a simple design I'll paint in the slicer but most of the time I do each piece separate.

I enjoyed the part where Alvin Seville made a cameo!

That's pretty cool and extremely helpful for seeing the process. Since the 3d printer strength is making durable objects I would think this would be better for making a larger door "wreath" or gate decoration. Actually how about adding a channel to your mailbox and changing out holiday decorations? Large LED snowflakes next? Anyway I just found your site and am enjoying the content.

cool video! really like your tutorial and how you show us your workflow in illustrator. could you maybe show us your keyboard shortcuts as you are working? like how you create a rectangle and all the pieces just magically become one. hahah. ps. if you were to sell this whole print on etsy, how much would you price this at? im having trouble with how to price 3d prints.

Yeah I’ll see if I can find a way to show them. I have some set to custom key binds to speed up my work flow but I can talk about that too. Really trying to find a good balance for teaching while I’m working and also not making the video too long and boring.

Very cool :) You can do a similar thing automatically with Luban slicer.

I would love to know how you separate all the parts of the photo because then you still get a flat object and dont have to vary the layer heights when switching colors

I actually made something very similar in my last video :) But a very different workflow, really like your approach too! Will even be uploading a tutorial on how you can do it for free in the next days!

I think I have watched most of your videos. I do have some questions though. When you got started doing your printing business, did you start out with the plethora of expensive printers you use today, or did you start much smaller? What was your starting configuration and how long were you working before you were able to make a profit? I have a hobby of buying damaged printers for cheap ($100 or less) and making them functional again. I had originally intended on monetizing these machines by starting a printing business, but I am better at the technical aspect than the business part. I find your videos to be inspiring, however it is still a daunting task to just get started.

I started with a single anycubic vyper. Bought a second one after a couple months on Etsy. Stuck with those for the first year and then finally upgraded to a single bambu in April of this year. Ive slowly added printers and AMS units as business has increased throughout this year. You can for sure get started on a single printer and then expand from there.

Thanks for covering what you do. I appreciate the level of detail you're willing to share. What build plate are you using? Is that OEM or an after market? I don't recall you putting glue or some other element on there in this or your other videos (that I've seen so far). Other users complain about the stock build plate\sheet. Thank you!

It’s the normal build plate that comes with the printer. PEI sheet maybe? And I do use Elmer’s glue sticks on my plates but I only apply it about once every couple weeks maybe. I’ll clean it really good with alcohol and then put a layer of glue once my prints stop sticking. Definitely not every print though.

How did you make it one solid shape at 5:13?

@@florianmi1338 I have used the painting tool in Bambu studio and it is not the fastest, i started to do something similar to Macy a while back and it is a lot easier to take the piece's into Bambu separately and painting them that way
