Meanwhile, here in the UK, if a burglar breaks into your home and they hurt themselves or you attack them then the homeowner will be arrested and charged while the burglar gets to sue you and gets away with any crime. In America you can simply drop them. Madness.

Exactly you can buy a basic upgradable barebones one and upgrade it yourself for much less i have less then 500 total in mine( including the gun price) and 7+1 so 8 rounds with the mag tube extension, flashlight, folding extendable stock, sling,hi viz fiber optic front sight. So they can be tricked out very very affordable, for much less then most pistol start at price wise. Usually a shotgun doesn't take more than one round, most cases its two and a $200 shotgun usually holds five 4+1 pretty good odds.

Achievable easily via duct tape, zipties, affordable mounts and even one of those cheap but durable Duracel flashlights that come in the pack of four. I would advicate for something brighter, I am a fan of Olight, but there are lots of options that'll blind the bad guy pretty darn good and introduce daylight to a room otherwise devoid of it.

Few things can match the sheer, close range, stopping power of the 12 gauge shotgun. The reliability of a break action, the ease of use of the pump action, and the firepower of the semi-auto, along with chokes/guages/barrel lengths/tube sizes etc etc, make the shotgun one of the most versatile tools in a family's kit.

If you cruise pawnshops, you can often find great deals on older shotguns, for under $500 I picked up two vintage 870 Remington Wingmaster twelve gauges. Both made in 1956 before MIM parts, and used enough to be super slick, but still solid, reliable, good looking guns. They came with 28" modified barrels, so I picked up a Remington factory 20" FULL choke police barrel, and magazine extension. Full cost for the first conversion including the gun was under $350. With the barrel it's a great house gun, and it's instant death on deer and feral hogs in the woods. I'm looking for a rifled barrel for the other one. The best part of Remington and Mossberg shotguns is that you can swap barrels easily and get both home defense and hunting from the same gun. They are both solid guns and a great choice. I've had several of both, and I prefer the Remingtons, but if I get a good deal with either, I'll bite. One hint, if you are shopping at a pawnshop (especially if you are a regular customer), don't hesitate to ask them for a better price, or even what they have into it. They are not (usually) trying to build a collection, they want to sell guns. They might have pawned it for $50, that doesn't mean that they will sell it for $75, but they might knock it down from the $300 on the tag to a couple hundred. I've gotten some really good deals that way.

Experience is everything. And I can tell you from my experience that anything that's simple and as he says three or four times"easy to manipulate" comes with the caveat that you're constantly having to reload and it takes forever to reload. IE- revolvers or shotguns. Pick your place in either one of them is easy to learn from and take care of and most of them pack a punch. Less moving parts in good maneuverability. I've been in a number of situations where I've had to reload a shotgun and revolver, and I had to be quick, obviously it wasn't as quick as I would like. and I got to tell you it took a little while and that was enough for me to say never again when I walked away from it. So let experience show! For home the fans 8 to 12 rounds should do it. I agree and a shotgun's capable. BUT, do you want to bet your life or the life of others on that?

Depends on the layout of the individuals home and situation. If somebody is in your house but not sure where, a pistol is much easier to maneuver around corners and through doorways etc. compared to a shotgun or even many rifles. But it could be a different scenario where you catch them as they're coming into your home or dwelling, just my point of view.

I just bought a base level, but EXCELLENT Hatsan Escort "Slugger" 12g for $180! Score! This thing is great. I shot 15 shells out of it, and could do another 30... The rubber recoil pad is A+ I feel it is better than an 88 because it has no "pump rattle"...The slide is like butter! Is it inexpensive? Sure! But not cheap! The gun is made VERY well IMO. I also own multiple other firearms, and a 14 yr Army Vet ... Biggest gun I ever shot was a 105mm HEAT round! "Gunner, Heat! Tank!!" "IDENTIFIED!" "FIRE!" "ON THE WAY!" "DIRECT HIT, CEASE FIRE!" 😂😊

I picked up my 590 for 440 new that’s a 9shot 12 gauge with heat shield and bead sight. I don’t remember how much I paid for my magpul stock maybe 60 to 80 bucks? 20 or 30 for a sling and mount and like 5 bucks on Amazon for a shell card. So what under 600 bucks for a well proven combat shotgun that you can almost guarantee will work when you need it to every time with any kinda ammo.Oh add 30 more bucks in you want a magpul for-grip or whatever brand you prefer to mount a light or something.

I love shotguns and they’re great. They’re scary as hell for an intruder to see. You don’t need a high capacity for most confrontations because anyone you hit is going down hard - and probably forever. Any accomplices would have to be truly desperate and determined to stick around. But if you live out in the sticks where self defense may extend outside the home a good AR or AK is hard to beat.

And I could probably out shoot you with my tactical shotgun. Comes down to two things, skill and task. If you're skilled enough, you can use any shotgun. But if the task calls for it you'll probably want a shotgun suited for that task. My shotgun performs it's required tasks perfectly.

That’s not even that much. A cheap defensive shotgun with a good flashlight is going to run you 600-700. A better shotgun and you’re a bit over a grand. If you’re using an optic, 1500. Semi auto 2k-3k depending on functions and optic. Nothing wrong with the cheaper option, but I can tell by your ignorant comment you’ve had 0 training. Therefore you’re not outshooting anyone in a defensive setting.

In my area (Hawaii) shotguns are the best bang for your buck weapon system. You can get a 590 for $600-$700 and you only need to pay $50 for your rifle permit. Handguns arent even an option for me, $200 class, $50 permit (per handgun), and stupid prices, a LGS I frequent has a glock 17 gen 5 for $680 so that plus permit and class is about $1000
