I remember this! Was the phone made by Western Electric? This was the phone you'd rent from the phone company (there was only one in each city, or area) for a dollar and change (if I remember) every month. It wasn't much, but added up over years, you're paying hundreds. You had full coverage on it, but never needed, made of heavy plastic outside, and steel parts inside. I think the most secure, military phone lines used today are still using pulse dialing on original land lines. They don't need additional power, and will probably always work, as long as the wires are still connected. Real simple.

This is great for homes with very poor cell signal. You can put the cell phone and Cell2Jack by a window and run the phone wire to your kitchen, dining or living room. Put the Cell2Phone in the second story room and run the phone wire down to your living room land line style phone. For people that live in an area without land lines, and when you have to step outside to use the cell phones. Great Product ! :-) Very clever idea.

If your gonna do that you might as well just get a straight talk home phone box cause you can put the box where you would put your cell phone and it's 15 dollars a month

Most homes older ones have entire house wired for a phone already just plug it in to any phone jack in the house and now you can call from any phone jack in the house. Don't have to pay for 2nd phone service. This is great idea for 911 phone next to your bed ready to go doesn't matter where your cell phone is as long as it's close enough to the cell2 jack box. Couple of weeks ago dog was barking side yard at 4am got up looked out the window sure enough couple of guys trying to get into my car. Run around looking for my cell phone get the police rolling before I go out there, they had not gotten the door open yet. I wanted these guys caught well got the police but cluster with them didn't even show up for hours later. These guys ran as soon as I yelled hey! out window they bolted.

Much better idea is to use voip gateway! First - you get independent, fixed phone number from voip operator, second there very many kinds of voip gateways, most of them are able to receive pulse (rotary) dialing.

Well, these are perfectly fine to keep using today. The only thing is the cable, which is designed to be wired directly to the telephone pole, and makes it incompatible with the phone connector nowadays. But with some modifications it should be perfectly fine.

If not can you recommend something that will? I tried cell2 jack, with a newer phone, but it sounded tinny, garbled and far away for sender and receiver. Thanks

The Cell2Jack work very well for its price. You can also add a splitter from the out port that goes to the phone cord and it will allow you to run two phone on it, like an extension. You may be able to run even more, but I have only tried running two. The X Links can be tapped into your home phone wiring (after being disconnected from the telco wiring coming into your house) and is powerful enough to power phones all over your house. I have four in my house and they work great connected with my iPhone. I don’t know how well the C2J could handle that, though. The X Link can be paired to two different cell phone but the C2J can only be paired to one. Also, I have found that the bluetooth range is greater on the X Link than the C2J and the connection time (time between when you finish dialing and your call gets connected and starts ringing) is slightly faster with the X Link; however, both are slower than a telco landline connections. Both are compatible with more modern “tone” (beeping sounds as you dial) as well as the old “pulse” (clicking sounds when you dial) dialing that a rotary dial phone requires, so you will not need to buy any other equipment to use older or antique phones. Both boxes will allow the phones to ring when a call comes through your cell; however, older phones (from the early 1980s and prior) may have had the wiring inside the phone altered or the ringer wiring altered or disconnected by the telco for use on “party lines” (you used to share your phone line with your neighbors but phones were wired so each household had it’s own ring). I believe that is why the phone in the video wouldn’t ring. On the X Link, my phones also ring when I get a FaceTime calls on my Apple iPhone. I can’t recall if that is true with C2J. The C2J was a great starter, but I later moved up to the X Link because I wanted to better be able to connect and use all of my antique phone collection around the house. Either way, I think you’ll be pleased overall.
