That's nuts that it's still in a booth. I'm in Milwaukee and we have some payphones around but as far as I know most are damaged or vandalized and not working, and none are in booths.

When I was a Kid my friends and I found a Phone booth smack dab in the middle of the woods. Along with a dim street light over head. You could see their use to be a road that ran along it but it was very detreated. The booth had plans growing inside and around it. We could see a power line running off it, leading to the high way out side the woods. Inside the booth we found a contraction worker helmet and rusty Key. And no the key did not work on the phone sadly. But the most crazy thing was it still worked. We cleaned it up and used it to make prank calls on people and call a sex hotline lol. It kind of became a club house where we would hang out. One day we went out to the phone booth to find it was gone. We could see some kind of truck had made its way to the booth and must of taken it away. Look back on it, I found it beautiful and really miss phone booths now.

I have been to this phone booth. It is near where I used to live. It's also what are the rare payphone that take incoming calls. I believe the phone booth is in front of a defense contractor and it may be a legacy for when workers were not allowed to have cell phones. That last part is just a guess on my part.

Yes! It is in front of a Northrop Grumman facility, which, at least to us, seems largely disused. More interesting is perhaps the Joshua Hendy Ironworks Museum nearby, though we haven't had a chance to visit it.

I just called the number to that phone booth, no one picked up…..

I'm not surprised! That facility looks almost abandoned... there's cars parked around there, but I've never seen anyone on the grounds and there's a ton of equipment in the back that looks like it hasn't moved in years. I'd be real curious what kind of work still goes on in there if any.

if you street view ruma illinois next to mary's bar and grill, you can see a payphone that is still there.

😯 Oh my goodness, I did not think there was still any payphones around after all these years. Don't get me wrong I think they're still cool yet. of course with everybody having cell phones now these days, I guess they didn't think they were useful anymore. Also I remember a time where we used to stand out on the streets buy a pay phone and wait for somebody to come by and make the phone ring so they can answer it and we would laugh at them, now that was back when we were young kids. Good times and good memories.

God: The last time i used a pay phone was to prank call a next door neighbor. I've send a bunch of taxi and pizza hut at the house.

OMG. LOL!!! I used to prank call people from pay phones too! Was too afraid they'd unblock my *67 on my cell phone.

@@coupleofbeers31 I know. That's why I use a pay phone. I figure they can't trace me unless there's cameras or snitch. I use my shirt to disguise as a grown man....At least in my head, I thought i was.

I’ll probably use it if my Cell Phone service is spotty or it has no service in a rest area

Use a disinfecting wipe to clean the phone and buttons before you use it

Last time I used a payphone was back in the late 1990s.

I just called this phone and it gave me payphone modem noises good sign that it still works!

I called just now. It rang a good ten times before it started beeping at me. I don't know what I would have said if someone actually picked up!

I’m currently in Highschool(graduating this year), and I grew up using payphones. And once asked my class if they ever used a Payphone. I got asked; “What is that??” And I nearly lost it. Like I had to walk them through the process of how to use one, and later that day, I heard this in the hallway when someone was trying to call a cab cause their iPhone 13+ died; “Where’s the green button??” And I just laughed my ass off as they struggled to use an actual phone. I get this response; “Well if you’re so smart you use it”, and I had that 'Here we go' look. I call my ride and then when I hang up, I walk out, and that person is losing their minds cause I knew how to use a phone

@@NonsenseWars middle of nowhere up north in a town nearby. I did a check and they took down two of them, and this spring I’m heading back up to see if they took the other one down. There was three left, so if the last one is still up I’m gonna make one last prank call

One time somebody did picked up when i called in every other 5 days each and on the 3rd day of calling that phone somebody actually picked up it sounded like a teenager kid probably 17 years old And he say Hello? And i was like is this a payphone and he said yes it is And i told him it was really cool.

Do you know if this pay phone is still standing in that spot? I don’t stay to far and would love to pay a visit

The picture with the mexico say 1 dollar s for 5 minutes.

Guess this is good to use if calling outer country. $1 for 2 min doesn't sound that bad.
