Using A Car As Cover - Experiences From Former Green Beret Kevin Owens
After a weekend of training at the Sawmill Training Center Kevin decided to take advantage of the thrashed cars from our Defensive Driving Course. It is a common thought that if the situation should arise, a vehicle can be used to protect you from gunfire. Are you sure that is the case? In this video Kevin shoots into a car to test the vulnerability of different places commonly thought of a good cover on vehicles.

I absolutely love to hear this man talk. "Shoot the driver in the F*
In this short 10 minute video I got a wealth of information that would have taken years to obtain. Not everyday one can go out in the back yard and shoot at a car and understand exactly whats going on! Thank Kevin!
“The best way to stop a car is shoot the driver in the face!”! Brilliant advice. Love this channel for its non bs plain simple advice.
Engine block, roger that.
Car for sale. Gently used.......for target practice.
Mike Glover teaches to get away from vehicles, bullet magnets and shrapnel. Use vehicles as last resort, and ONLY the engine bay area, otherwise, get away and NEVER EVER in them.
As a Memphis resident, this video will come in handy. Thank you!
Great real life scenario instructional video. More of these 👍
Its really surprising how many people think youll be safe from gunfire in a car. Engine blocks and wheels are your best bet, lots of metal protecting you in both.
Just completed a Centrifuge Training VCQB Course instructed by Will Petty. Surprisingly the A, B, C pillars provide the best cover while giving you the advantage of seeing what’s going on around you. Will an engine block stop rounds, yes, but you can’t see the bad guy advancing on you if you are hiding behind it. And you have to expose your head to shoot over it. Therefore, stacking pillars is the best cover if you must shoot from a vehicle. I highly recommend taking his class, it will definitely change your mind about how to fight from a vehicle.
the driver. the driver right in the .

The middle pillar between the doors is called the B frame. Going from front to back: A, B, C and sometimes D in SUV or van designs:
Love Kevin here, he has a lot of love for what he does! Stay frosty My guys at FCS!!!
Great information. Thanks for this demonstration. For future reference, the bar between the windshield and the front door is labeled by the auto industry as the "A pillar". Between the front and rear doors is the B pillar. Between the rear door and rear window is the C pillar.
We were trained that the door is more for some concealment. The A frame ( we were told) is better for cover but should be treated as slight concealment if anything. During a felony stop I'd like to see more of us park sideways and utilize the engine block. But again, you utilize your lights, spot and takedowns as well as PA for commands so we all use that V formation with two cruisers. Some high speed departments have kevlar lined doors. Great video! Important info for everyone.
Love to Kevin's no nonsense approach.
Glad to see Kevin featured on the channel! I hope to hear him more on the podcast. Happy 4th to the FCS crew! 🇺🇸
