Fun Fact: Every character's jump is the same height and duration, ignoring air dashes and any attacks that change your jump trajectory. Super jumps don't change this fact, either - they only add horizontal range, not vertical range or air time. I also think Vlov, specifically, has increased prejump frames.

a few characters have 5 frame jump startup besides the normal 4 everyone else has, he's ones of them.

I love the crazy mobility in this game but man I really underestimated how difficult it would be to use it well. I get hit so much air to air trying to approach or overshooting my jumpin or airdash and getting punished on landing. I actually play a really defensive neutral in Strive but all the options in this game just have me wanting to fly in all the time lol. Maybe I should try to play more around what the opponent is trying to do like you are showing in this vid.

Thank you Daiken, these guides are greatly appreciated, from someone coming from Strive/DBFZ some of the game mechanics have been throwing me off Ground Dashing getting hit reverse beat comboing rapid beat not canceling into normals (this one is killing me! showing me how unclean are inputs and how mashy I am) Shield vs Block Probably doesn't help that I'm playing Miyako with her Stubs for limbs but i love her design and special moves

I love this. Couldn't quite put my finger on what it was that made closing the gap so difficult, but seeing how both ground and airdashes leave you quite vulnerable helps a lot. The amount of times ive gotten stuffed after overshooting an airdash or failing to dash block is far too many lmao

once you understand your character ranges and the way your opponent likes to move you will do better in positioning yourself!

Do you dash using the button or the stick? Cause when I use the button, sometime instead of a dash, I just start hitting thin air and that messed up everything

Keep practicing. Practicing is not about being perfect, but its about making a habit, building your reflex and muscle memory so you dont even need to think about it when you do it. Once you got all your basic reflexes down you free up your mind to catch bad habits from your opponent, or exploit their weakness.

I dont think so? Strive has definitely had higher peaks than this came that I know for sure. So I think its safe to say Strive is the bigger game. But both fun in their own right

anti airs are not that strong in Melty usually so an Iad or a charged jump in will be very scary in that situation.
