So, 실례합니다, 선생님, if you have some time, could you help me again, please? I'm trying to translate the song "I'll be here" ( ost of the drama Hwarang) and I'm having trouble understanding the end of the following sentence: 나의 눈물로 채워질 줄은 I found that there is a grammar pattern " V/A ~ㄹ/을/ㄴ/은 줄 알다/모르다 " that is used by the speaker to indicate whether he/she knows something or not. But where is the verb? The beginning must be " will be filled with my tears" but I don't know what to do with the 줄은 ending.🤥

Any questions.. always welcome😍 😃Korean allows for flexible sentence structure, and it seems that songs often exhibit even more flexibility. In the case of this song, the verb phrase is positioned far ahead. The grammar you mentioned '-은/을 줄 모르다' is indeed used here. You understood it well. The verb phrase comes first, while the object phrases (quite long and complicated) are placed later. Let's take a look at the lyrics first.. 내가 바보였나봐. I must have been a fool. 그땐(그때는) 정말 몰랐어. At that time, I really didn't know. (the things that I didn't know are the following two sentences) ‼'몰랐어'(모르다) is the verb. 불가능한 내 모든 게(것이) 너라(너라서) 가능했었단 걸(가능했었다는 것을) 1) That everything impossible in me became possible because of you. 철이 없었던 나의 마음이 널(너를) 향하고, 시간이 너에게 멈춰버린 그 순간, My immature heart was directed towards you, and in that moment when time stood still for you, 네가 있어야 할 그 자리가 나의 눈물로 채워질 줄은. 2) the place you were supposed to be was filled with my tears instead of you. ✔-은/는 것을 모르다 to be unaware of a fact ✔-을/를 줄 모르다 to not anticipate a fact If you reconstruct the sentence so that you can understand them easily. 1) 불가능한 내 모든 게 너라 가능했었단 걸 그땐 정말 몰랐어. 2) 네가 있어야 할 그 자리가 나의 눈물로 채워질 줄은 그땐 정말 몰랐어. @@simple-korean My god, thank you for answering me so quickly and in such detail. I had spotted the verb 모르다( with an additional ~었) and the first verse was clear but I had imagined that there was a full stop at the end and that the sentence was over. I just realize that there is no punctuation and, of course, no capital letters!🙂 So, the verb "to understand" has two complements and the sentence "철이 없었던 나의 마음이 널(너를) 향하고, 시간이 너에게 멈춰버린 그 순간," is somehow between brackets. I understand better now. The object phrases are indeed "quite long and complicated"!🙂 도와 주셔서 감사해요. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!♥
