This is my favorite video because of how you break down sentence structure in English. So many times I've realized I remember certain words because they were used elsewhere in this same video. Here's the thing about learning Korean: MOST OF THE TIME I don't have a lot of time or mental energy to apply to learning Korean. But for the last few months I've had this video on in the background, and even if I'm tired, busy, or distracted I'm still becoming familiar with these words. I'm shocked by how many words I remember simply because I've heard it used in a different sentence in this video. Having every word translated has done wonders for my memory. It also greatly helps that the sentences are short and conversational. Instead of learning ONE WORD in a sentence I'm learning all of them, and I'm becoming more familiar with the sentence structure while I do it. It's helping me to isolate words I know when I hear other people speak Korean. Even if I can't remember what they mean, at least **I HEARD IT**...I heard those words I forgot. 😂 Right now, that's everything to me. Learning a new language is a process. I'm making so much more progress now though! Thank you!

I have to say that really good language learning sites for Korean are few and far between. Yours is one of the best, because it allows the learner to relate different units of the sentence (not necessarily word for word) between English and Korean, which is essential to grasp the underlying "logic" of the language. 고마워요.

@@simple-korean This particular video format (a more or less "literal" translation for each "chunk" in a sentence), lets you get a "feel" for the language. This "literal" translation allows you to grasp INSTANTLY (and that's the key) similarities (even if they are expressed differently) between meaningful units in both sentences, so does not require memorization. This could work with short stories, too. Please make more of the same.

Do not feel hurt, nor be sorry. Because what you have is a wonderful arrangement. Your hard work is helping me too learn your language. This to you is honorable, because you go the extra mile to add the position of words. Word order is important. Otherwise I would speak Korean backwards. Also when I'm listening to a k drama for instance, now I know to look for the action word, the verb in the latter part of each sentence. So you are doing a wonderful thing. If I can introduce you to the true God, would you accept?

@simple-korean
Жыл бұрын
English "I drink here" is actually "여기에서(here) 마실 거예요(will drink)" It can be also used, but Koreans use much "(여기에서) 마시고 가요" This means "I will drink here and go later" not "I will go now (with coffee)" We use also like this, 드시고 가세요?; Will you drink here? 먹고 갈까? Shall we eat here? (not take out) 마시고 갈래? Do you want to drink here? 먹고 가자. Let's eat here. 먹고 가세요. Why don't you eat here? Eat here please.

Can anyone tell me why did it use 'our' when the sentence was come to *my* house ??
@simple-korean
Жыл бұрын
It's a really good question!!😄 This is one of the strangest things for foreigners learning Korean. This is related to the cultural background of Korea. Korea values 'a sense of community'. So, when we use 'we' instead of 'I'. our home(우리 집), our country(우리나라), our society(우리 사회), our village(우리 마을), our company(우리 회사), our family(우리 가족)... These words are examples.🥰
@simple-korean
Жыл бұрын
However, it is not often used for objects. For example, my bag(제 가방), my book(제 책), my watch(제 시계)... There are expressions that foreigners feel really, really shocked. Not everyone uses it this way, but many people use 'my husband->our husband(우리 남편)' and 'my wife->our wife(우리 아내)'. Koreans don't think it's strange but I always think it's really funny or weird if foreigners hear it.🤣
