USED CAR REVIEW: 1984 Mercedes-Benz W123 230E Manual!! | EvoMalaysia.com

Oh yes, why not indeed!! My good buddy bought this for cash, been using it as a daily-driver and it's still performing flawlessly, say hello to the everlasting and truly incredible Mercedes-Benz W123!!
This one is a rare 230E with a 5-speed MANUAL transmission, and it's in immaculate condition. It's not for sale though (darn) but there are others out there that are still to be had for the taking.
Buy one, do it up, and it will still serve you faithfully for many, many years to come, I guarantee it! But not only that, it still commands a very strong presence on the road, and garners a tonne of respectful admiring glances left and right. Still a lovely, lovely car after 35 YEARS!!!

Haha.....1984! 35 years ago , was a fairly new rookie sales representative with a major oil co then & this merz 123 model was the most prestigious car for nearly all the distributors "towkays" & off course , the Volvo 240 ,a very distant second... younger up & coming " towkays " preference was the 1st model 1.6 Honda Accord with the 4 round Lucas head lights ! Thank you very much for rekindling the memories of the good old days......

I remember one of my relative had a W123 300D (I remember it because it had a distinct 5-cylinder sound and obnoxiously loud clatter) with 4-speed manual, it served him well until it got into a really bad accident with a drunk driver, fortunately he survived and walk out unscathed. If it wasnt because of that accident he would probably still be driving one today haha.

Wow!! Thanks for sharing that memory! Very glad to hear he was okay. I do recall a Mercedes ad showing a totally wrecked W126 I think, with a family standing next to it. @@ChrisWeevilGarage thanks, It always surprised me that its the first european car to offer airbag as an option if i remember correctly, so that mean mercedes didn't even feel that the car is safe and solid enough haha Anyway, I always have a soft spot for the W123 (in wagon especially), I always saw one in my high school (it's a daily and a wagon!) and always stare at it while waiting for my parent to pick me up

I use it for daily routine business trip to visit clients and at one time, I drove alone all the way from Kuching to Sibu which was 420 KM in distant. Nowadays, it goes for semi retirement and keep it all the time under shade and occasionally will take it out for a spin and it draw a lot of attention . Strangers will chat up with me and some even wanted to buy my car and asked me to offer them a price. Someone remarked that mine could be the best maintained care in the whole of Sarawak. Sometimes some salary earners just don't have enough of patience to slowly save up and buy a used older car using cash. Then they also worry that older cars no longer have new spare parts, older cars may fail on them more often than new cars although some new cars like what u said, end up at the service centre for parts replacements too, and some people just don't prefer the image of driving something that is not the latest thing. It just is a consumer thought by many.
