Use Compositing To Improve Your Still Life Photography

Compositing is the process of combining multiple images together to create one final image. Most people think of the concept in terms of complex, other-worldly, images which can take hours to create. Within still life photography, compositing is used in a far simpler way.
Creating multiple images of your product and merging them together in Photoshop has a few benefits.
1) You can use less equipment than would be necessary to get the image “perfect” in one shot.
2) You can be more precise and creative as you’re able to focus on individual areas of your product.
3) When photographing small subjects your lights will often interfere with one another. By compositing we eliminate this issue.
There are lots of other benefits which I cover throughout the video. Be sure to comment below if you have any questions.

Thanks! I'm not a fan of videos that take a long time to get to the point. I'm trying to be even more succinct but it's tough! Glad you enjoyed it

Thanks. I've got quite a bit of kit so hard to answer really. For an image like this, I'd mostly use; reflectors with trace on, small softboxes, reflectors with grids, opal acrylic, trace and card (mirror, pearl and matte). I think I've got another video where I shoot a watch with one light which might help you. I've also got a video on some of the kit I use. They're pretty old videos but still relevant
