    Jonathan little is becoming somewhat of a hero to me. His mindset, work ethic, intelligence, and dedication to his work are an example of what it takes to be successful in any area of life your choose to pursue, whether that be on the poker felt or not. Following his lead has led to many improvements in my thinking about poker and life in general. I highly recommend his content if you are interested in developing a mindset to be a crushing poker player who has the confidence to play in any game. Good luck.

    Thanks, Jonathan. Just wanted to give a shout-out to your support and money-back guarantee. Few years ago I bought one of your courses. The very next day life kicked me hard in the nuts meaning that I had to give up poker for the foreseeable future. I requested a refund for the course which I could no longer see myself using. Refund was received within the hour. Totally legit. Thanks again.

    Weird thing I was looking at the cash game charts and was like "co no flats???" and then this video from a year ago appeared in my playlist - Definitely my profitable 1/3 sessions were when I was tag/3betting/the rake part is true - better to win 1 200 dollar pot where they rake 7 and you tip than 4 40 dollar pots where they take 7 and you tip. Also sometimes they fold a better hand face up to your 3bet lol.

    Glad to see someone discussing the impact of rake. Unlike most poker concepts we would actually ALL be better off if we all understood the rake dynamics because it means the casino will take less rake per hour. I have played a "no flat no limp" style at times in 1/3 games and while it is not the BEST strategy it is a viable winning strategy at many tables.

  • @taojones4941

    @taojones4941

    Agreed. That being said you can also implement a "Never Preflop Raise" strategy in many of these low stakes games with considerable profit, if you play well on all streets.

  • @RaulGroom

    @RaulGroom

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@taojones4941 right well it depends on the structure. I've actually never played in a game like JL is describing where the rake is a flat $5. When the rake is capped at 10% of $50 with a No Flop No Drop rule, it is vastly more profitable to take down pots preflop but it's actually pretty hard to do at a lot of tables because people limp/ call so wide so it becomes profitable especially on the button to over limp a lot and then try to abuse people's silly rag ranges postflop

  • @taojones4941

    @taojones4941

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@RaulGroom Exactly. Its important to explore and be aware of all these things. My general preference is to play as deep as possible to mitigate many high rake scenarios. Vegas can be good for this. But generally as the rake gets higher, you'll prefer larger implied odds to mitigate it. This would generally mean you want weaker opponents who have deeper stacks as the rake increases. Each game should be independently analyzed but even the 5$ Los Angeles rake games can be worth playing if your skill is high enough.

    is the rake different in the US (to say Australia or UK)? In Sydney the rake is 10% between $10 - $100, no rake under $10, rate capped at $10 for any pot over $100. So a $16 pot with all limpers would be a rake of $1.

  • @taojones4941

    @@philliptyrrell4662 Many of the casinos in Los Angeles have a flat rate 3-5$ rake per hand! So you need an action table if you're an average or break even player.

    Absolutely world class content here. Ty. I think from what I understand that if you accidentally underrepresented having AQ on the turn , then you must call for the very reasons that Jonathan outlined for reraising allin after NOT putting the opponent on AQ Brad Owen often seems to call on the river if he has underrepresented a hand. I may not have explained that v clearly, though.

    One thing to note, regarding "flat-calling & 3-betting," those graphs assume that your opponents are playing GTO as well. So, let's say someone early in position opens-up the pot with 3X big-blind. Then, 2 or 3 people call, and you're in the SB/BB with A4 suited. There is nothing wrong with flat-calling in that situation. If you are completing the action pre-flop or NEARLY completing the action, and u have a decent hand with TREMENDOUS pot-odds, there is nothing wrong with having a calling range in that scenario. And, MOST games play like this at almost EVERY LEVEL.
