I have gigabytes highest end AMD motherboard. i figured the onboard audio was good enough. then I dropped in the sound blasterx and i could not believe what a difference it made. even on shitty 20$ Amazon speakers you can tell the difference, let alone on 600$ headphones. amazing quality.

ya i thought my gigabyte with the Realtek® ALC1220-VB codec ...which is apparently the higher end audio of motherboards....would be an improvement or at least match my laptop's output. The other higher end boards from msi...the pro gaming carbon etc had this as well. Its not even as good as my laptop though! I can't believe how disappointing it sounds. It's about 10% worse than my laptop....which is quite noticable, on some types of music its not noticeable though. Everyone said the motherboards audio are good now and u dont need a sound card or anything....I decided to ere on the side of caution and get the higher end onboard motherboard sound. Man I can't believe these assholes leading everyone out to dry like this....replace ur damn stock cpu (If I had of done this and not fell for what everyone told me about them being fine i'd be alot less stressed atm), and don't rely on ur damn motherboard audio.

I bought this AE5 and installed it today. I have Fidelio X2 headphones and it more or less fixes them into sound I can actually listen to. My cheap Logitech THX speakers sound amazing too. I got the card for £99 and am surprisingly happy I spent that money.

Im not sure. I have a MMX300 with a Xonar DGX. Will I notice a difference with a sound blaster?

Does this card offer bi-amp outputs? If so, does the software provide you with a variable x-over point and dB/Octave? I assume it has an LFE channel with x-over point and 'both'. ?

Do I have to use molex with this card????? was hoping to plug it in and it works, not bothered with the light strips

Where does the more recent G6 fit in? Is it an external AE-5 ?

Does the G5 support things like alchemy and EAX for older games?

I own a G5 at the moment and it's a huge step up over integrated audio. Especially for music but in general for anything where there's multiple layered sound tracks, such as games. What I consistently don't understand with the market in general and with the G5 is that you can set up speakers on the SPDIF but you can't switch between that and the headphones without physically unplugging/plugging in wires. Also why have advanced options such as direct output for the headphones or the SPDIF but then reset the preference each time you restart the PC? In short, the hardware is excellent but the controls leave something to be desired and it's why I'm looking for a replacement to solve these issues. Unfortunately I don't have hundreds to lash around so I can't just buy the G6 and see if they solved these issues. Information is also hard to hunt down. I guess I'm just too picky.

Anyone having trouble getting the lighting settings to save on the sound blaster connect 2 software? In other words, I turn on the lights in Sound Blaster connect, then I either restart my pc or quit and re-launch the Sound blaster connect 2 software and the lights don't automatically go on. I have to manually turn them on.

Yes, but I dont think you can play music in both at the same time. There is a Out on the back and there is a micrphone and mic on the front.

I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to audio. I have an Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 interface that I got simply to be able to plug my guitar in directly to my PC but I also have an Asus Maximus vii hero motherboard with Supreme FX but the Supreme FX only works through the front panel which often disconnects my headphones for some reason so I just plug in through the onboard in the back. I have audio-technical ATH-AD700X heaphones and while everything sounds great I have a feeling I am missing out on a better audio experience without realizing it but again... I am a complete idiot when it comes to audio. Any recommendations? Play lots of games and listen to lots of music so want to make sure I'm getting the most out of what I have.

So the 2i2 can be used as an audio out - at least for your headphones anyway, which may give a better sound setup. I'd try that first before buying anything else!

which one you think i should get g5 or g6 i want it for gaming mostly for r6s

I own the AE-5 since February and the sound quailty is really good. My only "problem" is that this card picks every single detail. Even the audio cracklings due to editing miscofnigurations in online videos, like this one at 8:54

This is why I just ordered the G5 today because I don’t want it to interfere plus I have a wifi n Bluetooth card in my pcie

I need an advice guys. Recently, I bought a headphone (+ mic) for gaming, which I was thinking to connect it to the front panel audio jack, and guess what? I’ve noticed that, my front panel audio jack is already broken. I also have a speaker, which is connected at the back panel audio jack (internal soundcard). The speaker I had is used for my main audio (listening to music and I love the sound of the games came out from the speaker). I mean like, using the speaker and the headphone at the same time. Do I need an external soundcard to connect my headphone?? Can you suggest which affordable external soundcard that provides better sounds quality (no hissing and cracking sound in headphone).

Can you say, whats better for gamers of this sound cards, because my english is finish. pls

it does not support DTS/DD unfortunately.

ae5 is awesome when you turn off bass + smart volume + dialog. put equalizer (gaming)

Honestly I would recommend the external purely since the internal takes up pice lanes and well we know Intel too well with there limit on lanes on the Consumer products

I own the creative ae5 but want to verticle mount my gpu i mainly use speakers bose compaion 50s . Would it be back step getting the usb sound card ?cheers

I wouldn't think so. I couldn't tell a difference myself so you should be all good.

Always use an amp for sound in s computer no other way to play games or listen to what ever u doing . Also get some nice headphones. Get a separate mic

Let me guess.... yet another review of how this sound card sounds with headphones. Yup... another headphone review. This card is capable of 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound but good luck finding a review that talks about it.

Got the AE-5 somewhat recently but dunno if I am having certain 'interferance' with it though. I do have a Wifi card sitting above it and ABOVE that is my 1080ti.. I also routed my "HD-Audio" cable outside and somewhat separated from my other cables - to avoid issues etc.. So far only GTA V has "triggered" this issue, I am at a loss here haha..

M W it’s because of gpu and psu combo. Gpu puts a lot of stress on power rails and most psu’s “whine” if your fps is high.

I get yesterday the g5, it was defectiv at arrive . And it was for me realy cheap qualitiy. I send it back and now i found a zowie vital for 80bucks, order it . Maybe has a better build Quality

Thats great, i just bought a Creative SoundblasterX Katana, it has 2 built in amplifiers inside. Not like my Sennheiser HD598 need it, but, its great. Its bluetooth, rgb lighting, a dedicated subwoofer and 7.1 simulated surround sound. Im not buying my build for gaming, its for 3D modeling... but... i cant wait to play some battlefield with the katana

Creative Drivers /Software sucks! My Sound Blaster Z has a muffled sound on W10, and the profiles are a disaster...

I really hate how obsessed with looks people have become. Idgaf what the card looks like just give me the specs/rating!

I have the AE-5, it's not a bad device for gaming if you like the SBX virtual surround (I kind of do). However 90% of the time I use my seperate DAC/AMP combo, far better sound quality. Listening to music on direct mode with AE-5 is decent, but my DAC/AMP is FAR FAR better. Better clarity, better separation, and it was a real eye opener when I first got it. As for the video review... this just feels like a paid advertisement for Creative. Not worth watching.

@@VladimirKozomara I have a couple of different DAC's. The JDS EL Dac, Schiit Modi 3+, and it's not a dac per-se but it has one built-in, the Creative AE-9. The AE-9 sounds about as good as any DAC I've tried, maybe a touch warmer. I'd be hard pressed to tell the EL Dac and Modi3+ apart. They all sound great and they all sound better (to me) than the AE-5. If I was going to have just one though, I'd take the Schiit Modi3+ with the Schiit Magni Heresy amp.

PCie sound card is the best USB dac are just not perfect because of the USB interface and latency problem

to be honest most of the audio category is placebo beyond certain level. also your average streaming is like 190kps so no need to get crazy gear.
