Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards-Ross, DeeDee Trotter and Francena McCorory win the gold medal for USA as they set a time of 3:16.87 in the women's 4x400m relay.
The event, which took place in the Olympic Stadium (11 August) saw the Russian Fed team take silver with the Jamaican team taking bronze.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

Allyson is the only American runner to have titles in the 100m, 200m & 400m at the National Championships. And that's outside of her World Championships and Olympic medals. I don't know if people really realize how special and rare she is. Already a legend at 28.

Mike Johnson could have done it but his form was too upright, it caused his dig and drive phase to almost be forced out too early. He would not have gained enough momentum quick enough to be able to run 9.8's. But had his form been not so up right he def could have done it.

There are men who have the capability but don't do so. Bolt could easily be a force in the 400 as well. Then there's Tyson gay, he runs 9. seconds in the 100, 19. seconds in the 200 and 44. In the 400. He could very well be a force also.

Came here to say that DeeDee Trotter's body is AMAZING! I remember thinking that when watching this race in 2012.
These women can fly! Every single one of them is a supreme athlete, and each one deserves every bit of the recognition they get.
Allyson Felix !!! Gorgeous, classy, & born to run. Wolfsky9
Allyson Felix is literally my favorite Olympian ❤️
Allyson had such a beautiful stride. She never looked like she was going as fast as she does. Like she floats.
Dee Dee Trotter, the running beauty.
Again, I will say it, Felix has mastered how to run that 400 meters, when she got the baton that was all she wrote!!!! A beast on that track!!
This won't happen again, I honestly love the USA relay teams, they breed 400 runners....
Allyson and Sanya two of my fave track stars for sure
This Will always be one of my favorite Olympic wins!! ❤️💙🤞🏾
I was like, " And there she goes, flying like a wind"
The way Ally ran that track is still unbelievable!
Phenomenal performance by Allyson Felix here.
2021 and I’m still here. This never gets old!
Felix is untouchable in that 2nd leg
Who still here in 2021 !
If I don't see USA on the track, I literally switch off TV. They are beautiful to watch. Quite talented and just classy. God has blessed African Americans!
DeeDee Trotter is amazing! A great product out of DeKalb County, GA!🇺🇸🏃🏾♀️🥇
Just watched this race in 2020 for the umpteenth time. Truly what an astounding team of great athletes and great women! Should be watched by every young aspiring runner.
6:56 A beautiful race from 4 beautiful women.
Again, my favorite U.S. female teams. The 2012 track and field team was really awesome. Made me have flash backs to the Flo Jo days.
I think this was the best USA's line up for 4x400 m
Watching these all over again!!! :-) I love the Olympics!
Dee Dee Trotter is a beautiful sister
I can’t wait to see the 2022 winter Olympic Games events and the 2024 summer Olympic Games events
