larson and cook may not be that hard open hitter, but they pass and defend well. Their attacks are also well placed and are using their mind to score.

I agree. She needs aggression. And that comes from Larson, who is gradually returning to her ideal form. Washington at the net and on the serve also makes a difference. If Poulter comes back, the team will gain strength and experience. Servia is very weak and Boskovic is no longer the same, just watch the match with the Dominicans. Kirally had a clear objective, to win the Olympic berth and get this team playing. The goal has been achieved, now it's time to study the teams hard and be in the final next year.

@@DCM1970 I overall think thompson needs to swing a lot smart and use her height to the advantage. The last tournament we saw her struggle and get blocked even against the smallest blocker she isn't a heavy hitter so i dont understand why she always has to swing down. But than again USA sets their ball extremely tight making it mostly a trap set. Carlini has no connection with her middles and this is why Poulter is the better setter overall and the reason why they won gold because she can run her the offense a lot better than the setters USA have on the bench.

​@@darianxiong2641Agree. Only Kelsey and Annie (in this game) can connect with Carlini's sets. Even Larson kinda struggles with her sets sometimes. For JT, love she needs to work on her OOS plays, and she also tends to get frustrated and it affects her whole performance. I kinda miss her powerful spikes tho, she does prefer fast sets which Poulter forte. Carlini doesn't really connect with her middles. JWO performance declined. And their errors were costly esp., in that service area. They have to work hard and improve more if they want to beat other stronger teams.

Poland or Turkey will eliminate America. Even if they are the most experienced team in the world, America may be eliminated by playing faster and harder. The American team now wins older matches based on its experience alone.

A lot of light in this USA team. Larson returning to form. Retke is defending. Ogbogu blocking very well. Carlini distributing intelligently. And what about this GREAT striker Anne Drews???? Thompson sometimes feels the pressure of the game, but Drews, who hasn't been playing well, suddenly comes back with her strong spleen. That's exactly what the USA needs. Congratulations! We're in Paris. On our way to a second Olympic championship!

Both are really good opposites, but when it comes to speed and heavy spikes, it will be Annie Drews. JT is good in blocking though

LETS GO USA!! They will do great in the Olympics, I believe we can win if we stay aggressive, consistent, and balanced! We have a deep bench especially with Plummer, hentz etc!

Cook as an outside hitter is less effective as compared to the other teams.

Yeah but her passing is chef kiss. One of their key factors they won that Italy game was her great defense and passing. Btw, She's the #1 receiver in OQT.

USA needs to bring back Bartsch-Hackley and Poulter back to their roster. They are the missing pieces. With Vargas and Karakurt on Turkey team, USA has to bring those 2 back.

Yup Bartsch-Hackley is what they needed now. But I think she is done playing for team USA. Plummer has to step up big time. I am not yet convinced with Franti. Carlini is already great. She just need to build strong connections with her wingers.

​@@greyson7285Plummer is great and has powerful spikes but girlie cant pass and defend, in Kiraly system OHs must be good at passing and in defense. that is why KK sticks to Larson-Cook tandem. Frantti has decent passing and defense but she's sometimes inconsistent, either she has a great or bad game.. To be fair with her we haven't seen her play in OQT much, they only used her as SS which is a bit disappointing. What this group lacks is explosive OH., i think Lanier is a candidate. Skinner too, Bajema or even Simone Lee who did so well during Pan Am Six.

The second to 4th set is the USA team that we need. Fast plays!!!

My favorite team is Türkiye.

A lot were also counting USA out from Tokyo Olympics predicting Serbia China and Italy as medallists. They are Olympic and World champions for a reason. They will always be on top.

I'm having so many Doubs right now with the team,but I have High hopes they can climb up to the finals at least. Poland became really dangerous now with their towering players more so of turkiye and serbia...

I am a big fan of USA. It just frustrates me that they don't have another outside spiker who can receive great and hit aggressively. Larson and Cook are great is receive but not so in hitting. Plummer has tendency to be bad in reception but she is really great in attacks, blocking and serves. Thompson who needs to improve more. SHe hits the ball in a very slow pace even when in system. Please improve more before Paris because if not Annie will be the only options and sometimes she can be blocked easily although she really did great in this match. Moreover, they need more setter options. Hancock and Poulter are better than Carlini just tbh. But thank God Carlini did great too in this match. The back up was not good. Lastly, why don't they have a jump server? Even Hancock who was one of the great servers in Italian League can jump serve but when she plays in the National team, she float serves? Like why? Turkey and Serbia and Brazil atleast has one jump server, let her jump serve! haha But anyway, I still love USA. Hope they can still defend the Olympic title. If not, it's gonna be Turkey im sure lol. Unless Brazil or Serbia up their game.

@@diandrachristi8388 That's your opinion. This is my opinion based on my observation. I watched other volleyball analysts too and somehow they agreed with my opinion regarding the outside hitters, and opposite. Outsides really need to up their attacking. Thompson needs to improve too because other teams can easily block Annie in some of the matches, but thank God she ate that match against Germany.

Larson has the best back court in the world and is a captain who knows how to lead her team. It wasn't all flowers in Tokyo. They lost to Russia. But in the end they won. Lanier should come in for Cook. This is a team that came for an Olympic berth and achieved their goal.

Just like Dominican Republic, in VNL 2023 their performance was so basic, but in the Olympic Qualification Tournament, they are on fire. See, you can see a lot of change in short period of time! Don't judge the team so early, there was so much time to improve to go to olympic.

What do you mean with performance like this? USA only lost once in this tournament and it was a close game with Poland. And in this match with Germany, they ate them alive, especially on second set! Germany did not even score double digits!

And Serbia’s plays are very inconsistent! Turkey is the only stable team I can see winning so far! But the DR tremendously improved even beating USA in norceca finals.

AFAIK Elite Teams include those who have won the Olympics and World Championship. Having won the VNL ONCE doesn't make you one of them.

Be careful, the moment will pass. If you think you're great today, you might not be great tomorrow and you'll fall badly in the VNL and not get past the group stage at the Olympics. If you're a tuco, worry about Baladim....Cook, you're much better than her without hands.
