USA presidents Oval Office change the inside 1909 to 2021: the last 100 years!

The Oval Office became the central place of every American president since the beginning of the 20th century- It’s a tradition for every incoming president to change the décor in the Oval Office- from the upholstery to the wallpapers. The process is meant to reflect a president’s individual personality and intentions in office, as well as putting their own stamp on the world’s most illustrious room-
It also reflects how the president sees and represents their own country and how they display the sovereignty of the US to the dignitaries of other countries- as the room is used to meet them and share important messages with the citizens. The Oval Office isn’t just for show- Just like any other office, the presidents also use it for day-to-day work and meetings with the staff.
As part of their 50th-anniversary celebrations, American Home Shield decided to look back at the Oval Office’s evolution from 1909 to 2021. In 1909- during the West Wing expansion- William Howard Taft decided to move his office from the Roosevelt Room into what’s now arguably the most iconic seat of power in the world.

I am a history nerd so trust me here - I love this type of stuff but there area a LOT of errors in this video. The offices from Taft to Hoover were in a completely different building that was demolished by Franklin Roosevelt and a completely different West Wing Building (with a resized and relocated Oval Office) was constructed in 1934. The first Oval Office layout (1913 building) only had windows behind the president’s desk, NO GLASS DOORS OR WINDOWS WERE ON THE LEFT SIDE of the original Oval as this animation shows. This animation keeps the same layout for the original and current Oval Office which is completely wrong. Kennedy’s office is totally wrong. He had a light blue carpet & drapes for a nautical themed Oval Office. In November 1963 his wife Jackie wanted to see what a red carpet would look like so when the first couple left for a two day Texas Tour on November 21st 1963 the folks at the White House changed the carpet and drapes to red to see if JFK would like it. Very sadly President Kennedy was murdered in front of his wife the next day in Dallas, Texas. JFK would never even get to see his “red Oval Office.” When he returned to the White House he was in a casket. Very sad.

By pausing and using my arrow keys to forward and backward, I was able to flip easily between versions and really find interesting changes. One of the most interesting things to me is who used other presidents' pieces. Biden kept Trumps drapes and brought back Clinton's rug. Carter kept most of Ford's things, just rearranged them. Interesting that no one had a seating arrangement around the fireplace till Kennedy. We might guess that was Jackie's doing.

How thoughtful and kind of him. He would have been the only considerate president in this aspect if Trump hadn’t done a half hearted attempt at something similar with a row of four chairs in front of his desk. Carter and Trump have something in common, they both made space for ppl to SIT in front of the president’s desk. Cool vid.

Trump has no “peers”, he only has subordinates! Everyone working in his office is a “yes man”. By putting a row of chairs in front of the desk, it’s symbolizing the head honcho barking orders at everyone else. Not an open conversation. The resolute desk wasn’t envisioned as a space for having policy conversations, but rather a symbolic space for appearing before the American people and signing documents. The couch sitting area is more inviting for conversations with “peers”.

@@lucajohnen6719 So you can be comfortable while talking to him. President Carter was dead ass the nicest, easy going, and loving US President, he literally pardoned every man that evaded the Vietnam War Draft, returned the Panama Canal to Panama, created the Department of Education through his cabinet as a focal point to his presidency, promoted human rights, created Habitat For Humanity, and crafted a National Energy Policy. All Presidents should look to President Carters legacy when they must ask themselves “Am I going too far? , Is this right? , Is this humane? , Do Americans get hurt by this and by how much?

Just a tip on the transitions. It would be nicer if it didn't move to the side during transitions. Instead just fading or switching would be easier on the eye. What the viewer is wanting to see is what changed and moving the image to the side makes it harder to see things that change since your eye has to jump around. But I like the idea of the video, but could be done better.
