Glad you did some Stray Dog gear. I think it is a great company. I plan on getting that bench this year and I love that you can choose all the different colors too to match your bench in addition to everything else they sell where you can choose your own color. I also plan on getting cable crossover machine that can also be used as a rack. You can also add many other attachments in as well, like a dumbell rack, which I plan on getting.

Of course, yes you need to do a review of the GOAT! Look up all the minor vids out there of the movements that [supposedly] can be done. Leg extensions especially (excellent!). Also hamstring curls. I need a GGR vid to help, because it's the next mid-ish $ buy I'm looking forward to. And thank you for the review that pushed me into the PR-5000 w/ ARES. Pulled that trigger, and it's awesome. Thinking GOAT would be a great add to it.

Great review! It’s awesome to see a smaller company, like stray dog, making it on the channel. They’re definitely a more premium brand, but they have a lot of innovative products including functional trainer racks and triad racks. I’d also love to see reviews of other smaller companies: Surplus Strength (specifically their UPS, but also their new racks) Bridge Built (racks, and their new plate coaster setup) Buffalo Bully Fab (the bully glyder, adjustable dumbbells) Steadfast Lifting (cable machine handles/attachments) Vendetta Strength (180 degree locking adapters for lever arms, replacement trolleys for lever arms) GymPin (especially the Kaizen adapters for lever arms to have an extra plane of movement) I’m sure I’m forgetting some great ones, but that should keep you busy for awhile.

I us KG plates because I did powerlifting with I was younger and now my kids want to get into the sport. From there it jumps over the deadlift area. Idk how I feel about the reverse ladder system. I'm sure Stray Dog has done all the work to know that it will work, but I have concerns. At low angles, all of the weight is only being supported by the bolt and the ladder handle and a shearing force is being applied to the ladder arm. In all other ladders, the force is always applied along the length of the ladder. I'm not perfectly up to date on my materials science, but afaik, steel is much stronger in compression than it is when subjected to shear force.

@@BrandonSchwartz1it’s not just for looks there multiple reasons a reverse ladder system is superior. The first is the frame is open allowing you to put a spotter plate that doesn’t get in the way for rows. It also allows you to get a greater ROM on chest supported rows as you can go further down. The other reason is you don’t have to bend all the l way down to adjust it as the adjustment point is higher up as it’s on the pad. We have sold over 300 of these benches and have had athletes bench 500 lbs on them with no issues.

Great review! What about the stability of the bench while doing hip thrusts? I find that most benches will move back when I do my first rep unless propped up against a wall or with a heavy dumbbell behind it.

I should include that info in the future. This is definitely stable enough due to the overall weight. Very sturdy. - Coop

Hip thrusts are a complete waste of a movement. Does nothing but stress your hip flexors.

Suprised you didn’t mention you can do things like rows with a barbell because of the reverse ladder style. A frame ladder style you can’t really do that because the ladder gets in the way

A barbell row on a bench sounds like a useless range of motion. Is that actually a movement people do? What's the benefit over a bench-supported isometric dumbbell row?

Never heard of this outfit, so I checked out their site. Typical offerings, until I got to their Triad rack system. A corner-rack? I have no idea if that's interesting or viable, but I'm genuinely curious. If you can, review the Triad Half Rack. The full rack is less interesting to review because there's definitely no clearance issues, but the half rack I'd be very interested to see how that performs as it's intended.

@@Stray-Dog-Strength And what is so special about Triad rack? Total depth with safety arms is approx. 57 inch (rack itself is 34 and spotter arms is 23). Competitor flat foot racks are useally 48 inch deep. I am really curious.

My dream bench would be a Cybex 5435 with a decline leg attachment and some upgrades... The old school Cybex bench has the most unique incline feature on rollers and can go from flat to incline with one hand and easily locks into place with a smooth a spring loaded pin has nine positions in total 0 to 80... Would stack that with a decline leg attachment, minimal gap b/n pads, knurled handle, and ability to store vertically, and in a clear grind or clear power coat.
