@@MerchantOfAlba Hello I’m going to talk just for the cultural part. When this came out was a big musical success Someone said that Bob Geldoff was the master mind of this, I really don’t know. But I remember since I was a kid (77-78)some American musicians from different States and styles of music were doing some collaboration, jazz/ country, country/ pop music and the fans didn’t disapprove that. The 70’s was ending and everyone was preparing for the next decade. At the start of the 80’s many Southern Rock bands quit playing. Then came many new sounds and bands, came a huge tide of musicians from UK 🇬🇧 and the world music changed a lot. To understand this period of time you must start listening music from 1980 to 1985. All of them 😊😊

One man is responsible for all of this. Sir Bob geldof brought together England's greatest singers for the song " do they know it's Christmas time at all", a movement he started to fight African famine. Which inspired Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson to create "We are the world" less than a year later. One man (a punk rocker no less) changed the whole world. He also organized and produced one of the most important days of the 20th century, Live Aid!!!!!

Actually... it was Harry Belfonte who was responsible for coming up with the idea for this after witnessing Band Aid in the UK. He initially contacted a few Like Wonder, and Rogers to work on it, and then Quincy Jones, who took over the project form there. So t he guy sitting in the chorus next to Dan Akroyd was the man ultimately responsible for this!

Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and there was one reason how all of these Legends got together and was arranged to sing together, and that was Michael Jackson. Only he with his power and his clout would have been able to pull that off. You wouldn't find this today. I realize that there was I guess you would call it a remake with more modern-day singers. But those singers we're people not nearly of the same caliber today out of these people were in their day. Today they would have to be getting paid, and it would be used as a way to boost their career. These Legends didn't need any boost to their career they were already Legends. And they didn't get paid. This was all volunteered time. Name me any artist it would do that today. And we also don't have Michael Jackson to arrange it and get all of the top-tier artists together of today. So I'm afraid that kind of collaboration is no more.

I've heard a few different versions of Prince's potential involvement. I think the Michael Jackson beef has been debunked, but that it was more about Quincy's feeling that Prince wanted to make the song his own, that it seemed like his involvement was going to turn this into a "Prince" thing instead of the community effort that it ended up becoming. Not sure how true that is but I actually believe that version more. Prince was a singular artist, his creative vision meant he needed a lot of control over the finished product. And that went against the spirit of what made this song so perfect and impactful.

Whoever it composed ?? Hu ? It’s been written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and the production was done by Quincy Jones. I would say that everyone knows who had written it.

There are lots of musicians all around the world that has done the similar thing. I don't know much about it, actually, but from my understanding it was some kind of live performances that were held to raise money for the children of Africa. It spread and became much bigger then they expected, again if I understood it well. Anyway, 1985 was the year when it all happened, when I was born and when we were still living in big Yugoslavia. And Yugoslavian (mostly) rock stars also recorded very similar song and if you wish to see/hear it, I'll put the link in the end of this comment. It has lyrics, so you can even understand it. And I love both songs, but the Yugoslavian one is much more nostalgic to me and brings me a lot of sadness, because they were all together (we were all together) singing a song of love for children, so united, and they were all big names. Many of them I listened and loved when I was a child... but only several years later it all became a horrible war and hatred, everyone separated and suddenly it felt like we had never been brothers and sisters, the same nation... no, it became only endless hatred. Even today, after 30 years, still some people feel that hatred. And it is so sad to me. I personally adore Croatia, for example, especially "the most problematic" part of it - Dalmatia, but I know both Serbians and Croatians who still hate each others. And it truly makes me sad. Sorry for the long message and being out of context, but this song really reminded me of it all. Here is ours (Yu song) if you wish to hear it (or if anyone else wishes). I don't think anyone would ask you to react to it, so I guess you can freely watch it only for yourselves. I even don't know if you have more followers from ex-Yu countries apart from me. Probably some, but still, I don't think anyone will ever ask you to react to it, so don't worry about that. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nHue1bBmgLbghdI.html

Lovely reaction folks. But, I’ve seen a lot of reactions to this and the youngstas really don’t know. Most pick out MJ and a couple of them if they reacted to an artist. Most don’t know. I remember being in my friend’s car blasting this on the radio and trying to identify them by their voice. I’m grateful for reaction videos and those that play older songs. It’s keeping the older music alive even if the artist is gone. That being said, I’d like to request an artist and song that can’t be sung by them anymore. The duo Carpenters and the song is Rainy Days and Mondays. I think you two would know of them but a search yielded no hits. So let’s go down that rabbit hole. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gp560bOxmsrIotY.html

There's a song called "The Power Of Love", performed by the Who's Who of Dutch metal: Floor, Anneke van Giersbergen, Simone Simons, Dianne van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio, Charlotte Wessels, Arjen Lucassen, Mark Jansen etc. Warmly recommended! "THE POWER OF LOVE | DUTCH METAL FOR SERIOUS REQUEST 2014" - Cheers!

Our world has lost its way in dramatic fashion. This type of event can never happen again because not enough "stars" give a shit and there are no MUSIC LEGENDS AROUND TO TAKE THE BATON IN TODAY'S INDUSTRY. Sad to see and hear.
