US PRESIDENTIAL DOLLAR COINS - Values, Facts and History
Thanks for joining the currency and coin community here on KZread!
We strive to put out videos as quickly as we can that cover coins and bank notes.
IN THIS VIDEO: We talk about Presidential Dollar Coins! From 2007 to 2008 Presidential Dollars had the motto "In God We Trust" located on the edge of the coin. However, since there have been tens of thousands of coins found with missing edge lettering inscriptions, the U.S. Mint changed the location of the motto beginning in 2009. From 2009 to date, all Presidential Dollars will have the motto "In God We Trust" on the obverse of the coin. This program will continue until at least 2016 with Richard M. Nixon’s portrait (in order for any other U.S former Presidents to be honored on circulating coins, it is necessary for the former Presidents to be deceased for at least two years).
When the coins were first released in 2007, there was a lot of excitement in the coin market and media about the new coins, especially since the last time the U.S. Mint struck coins with edge lettering inscriptions was back in 1933 on the Saint Gaudens Double Eagles.
More excitement came once missing edge lettering dollars were discovered. These are considered major mint errors. Other more minor varieties have surfaced since then, including double overlapped edge lettering, double inverted edge lettering, and weak and partial edge lettering varieties. With so many different Presidential Dollar coins, errors and varieties, this is a definitely an exciting coin series to collect.

Why does the President Harrison And the President Garfield only have one date on them
@VarietyErrors

Harrison sadly died only a month into his first term as president and Garfield was shot 4 months into his presidency. So, both only served during one year.
Hey I have a strange error. 2007 Washington dollar with a "perfect spear" through the O in the edge minting of the word God in "in God we trust "
Have you noticed that on some of the edge lettering on Denver mint coins face the obverse and some face the reverse?

Hey brother I have and u.s presidential coin but it need to be clean because it's made or compose brass kind metal onlybut it is valuable in u.s
Is it correct though Kyle that only presidents deceased end up on these coins? That's sad cause I'd like to think adding the edge lettering and TRULY just being a president that the mint may have tryed a bit harder? Extremely interesting considering they are susspossed to be ( like our ) people that represent the people.Honestly...so sad .The government was like watching kindergartener 's. On a playground. I admire the presidents of past. I feel as an American I am sickened by the bullcap.❤

It's the law that you have to be dead for at least two years to appear on US currency. That's why there's no Jimmy Carter dollar coin despite him having been president before Reagan.
