I got 7 from a car wash, and a saca dollar it may be tarnished/or experimental washed, as it has no gloss at all and its got a red hue

Went to my Bank a few months back to get a couple boxes of Quarters to search and one of the Tellers asked me if I wanted a roll of Presidential Dollars. I was like sure! Then she asked me if I wanted the rest? I'm like how many. 24 Rolls! All different Presidents except for 2 which are the same. Now I'm in a quandary on whether to crack them open. They're Mint rolls.

@BlueRidgeSilverhound.....I bought 40 rolls of the Washington dollars when they were available from the bank thinking that the first coin in the series may be worth something some day. I had never heard about the missing edge lettering until today, Jan. 2, 2021. Don't know if I should take them out of there rolls and search for missing lettering or just let them sit.....for the kids to have down the road.....What would you recommend? Two weeks ago from the credit union I picked up 4 rolls and one of them has the blank edge lettering on President James K. Polk. 11th. US. President 1845 - 1849. Also 3 '79 Susan B. Hi SEAN! love your videos & all the valuable info that you provide with clarity. Thank You! Started collecting a few years ago, but just threw them in a large water bottle. I began to look at the coins during "covid era". I have placed some aside, since I'm no expert and have lots of questions. I live in Florida however, now in PR for 1 more week & went to the bank and purchased some coins. I found the Thomas Jefferson dollar with no lettering, doesn't look too brilliant and would like to know if it can be cleaned with white vinegar (without rubbing)? also, should I get it graded if so, how do I go about doing that? or should I sell it on ebay for what amount? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing. I check and ask at my local bank but have never found one without edge lettering. I do have a roll of the George Washington that I bought when they first came out and have it stored in the Vault.

I used to be able to buy a box ($250/box) from the mint with free shipping, they did it to get people to use them. When my family went on vacation, I had 2 boxes and used the coins for tips at restaurants, small purchases at convenience stores (candy for kids,etc). While at a gas station/food store (very small) in middle of North or South Dakota, I told the kids (two boys) to get something (candy). They each chose a candy bar and laid it on table for clerk to charge me. The total was about 2 dollars, so I took out two Presidential coins and put them on the counter. He gave me a blank look. I had to convince him that the two coins were legal US tender. He hadn't ever seen one before, even called his wife over from another room. This was around 2012 or a year or so later. He finally did take the coins. I still wonder if he didn't call the bank after we left to verify they were really US money or not. :)

I had the same thing happen. Sorta. I had Kennedy half dollars. Cashier didn't know what they were and wouldn't take them.

I found a Sac dollar with about 175 degrees rotation error.

I have a MS67 John Tyler strike through obverse. Think it's the only strike through in the presidential series

The 2012-2016/2020 part of the dollar coins are in circulation but are extremely hard to find, for example, in my Presidential dollar coin hunting, I found 4 Ronald Reagans, 1 Harry S Truman, 1 Theodore Roosevelt, 11 Benjamin Harrisons, 1 Warren G Harding, and 1 Calvin Coolidge. I later added Chester Arthur and Cleveland’s two Presidencies after I ordered them online.

Recently inherited my Gran’s stuff, and believe I have one of the Andrew Johnson coins with no lettering on the edge. So, it has no date & doesn’t say E Pluribus Unum on the coin anywhere… The edge is blank.

I just bought 9 gold dollar coins this morning at a local gas station. 5 are of president collection. ALL 5 have LEGIBLE writing on edges. From year 2007-2011

Have a fed roll in my car (Washington)...was going to just sell... I never find completely missing lettering whenever I look. I don't like having to use a magnifier to see it either! Such a horrible idea.

I collect a bunch of presidential dollar coins ( a variety of them). My favorite was the one with the pipe dated 1621:)

I have a James Madison 2007 $1 coin with James Madison facing left rather than right, and has a full Staue Of Liberty on the back not just bust. Cant find any information at all about this coin.

I have went through many rolls of these, never found a missing edge lettered coin, I hope to find one some day, your right about finding them at a bank, they are easier to get than a clad Kennedy half dollar. Good topic for discussions 👍

Old video just catching it. Good part is I knew about the missing edge lettering and have been searching since the first discovered coin. I’ve found one so far in well circulated condition. That one came from the bank tellers tray. I get lots of uncirculated rolls all the time but no errors yet.

I have some that are Ultra Cameo, I buy some to check for missing lettering!

Finally.... I have a coin you mentioned! Well sort of. Lol. I have a John Quincy Adams, but the edge lettering is doubled, not missing. On one of the words it's inverted or upside down (don't remember which. .. haven't looked at in a while) I can't find hardly a thing about the JQA's, so if anyone knows much about those, I'd love to know. I'm just going off of some of the others I've seen with doubled letters as far as what it might be worth. Side note ... I found a 2006 Nevada quarter yesterday that's good plated. Actually in great condition. Did the mint do that or is just damage? Are they of any real value over face?

I just found a John Tyler one, on my first time buying rolls. I bought 4 rolls.

I understand that it is very really hard to get not even bad coin but only the top top one.

I have one missing edge lettering: it's "Martin Van Buren" but it's not that good of quality. Though it is shiny it also has scratches on the front and back. So I don't know how much it can be worth in terms of grade.

Hi I have a Calvin Coolidge that the gold is so light it looks like silver, having said that it has a glass mirror type finish, you can see ur reflection on it it's a 2014 D and I got it with several same type finish on 2000p Sacagawea coins from my bank here in Florida are these valuable?

i thought i found some missing edge lettering but it's actually very VERY slight on them which was disappointing.

Hey Blueridge, question for you. When did they change the obverse on these coins? Because you mentioned at the beginning of the video that, “In God We Trust” is part of the edge lettering. And I noticed that the motto was on the obverse of the Grover Cleveland and Ronald Reagan coins.

It does have writings on the edge, its partially covered in red on the edge and on the obverse. What I found interesting is that there are letters on the rim of the coin- CC. What should I do?
