US, Japan Look To Counter "Dramatic Improvement" In Russia, China & North Korea's Hypersonic Arms?

Japan and the US signed an agreement to jointly develop a new type of missile defence system. The deal was inked as the allies seek to defend against the growing arsenal of hypersonic weapons possessed by China, Russia and North Korea. Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden had agreed to the project during their summit in August 2023
The Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) is planned for deployment by the mid-2030s, AP reported. The latest agreement outlines responsibility and decision-making, marking a major project milestone, according to Japanese defence officials. Watch the video to find out is the US and Japan rattled by hypersonic lead of rivals?

They have already knock some down in Ukraine. A hypersonic missile the closer it gets to surface targets gravity takes over and heat will destroy electronics. The US knew this shit in 60;s, although they just tested one that will go hypersonic when in engaging, surface targets. So your basic kinetic BS has just been effed.

If you understood kinetic dynamics, you would know that speed and maneuverability are opposite concepts. People do not realize that hypersonic weapons are difficult to intercept, meaning that there is also a high probability that they will be intercepted using primitive blast fragment warheads. Also, Russia cannot intercept US ATACMS with 100% certainty either so US ATACMS are no different than hypersonic weapons expect for lower costs.

@@vacantSuburbia US never lagged Russia and China in hypersonic technology. It only lagged in feilding hypersonic weapons. US hypersonic weapons are more advanced, accurate and harder to detect than Chinese or Russian weapons which are bulky and easy to detect. The reason for advanced hypersonic weapons that the US is developing is that US weapons will not be nuclear tipped.

Open source info: The dark eagle program has faced some delays and test failures, but the Army is working to resolve issues with the launcher and missile to enable fielding in summer 2024. The Mako is still in development and is being pitched to both the U.S. Navy and Air Force. Lockheed Martin has stated that the missile is "ready to fly, ready now, and is ready to go in scale and into production quickly", suggesting it is in the late stages of development. In conclusion those two missiles were still under development. Nothing to bear about yet. Just saying.

@@TimVoktwo The devil is in details. The Dark Eagle is fully tested successfully years ago. The issues are with launcher and MAKO is ready to take orders. The only issue with Mako is not successful test but LM developed it with internal funding. The US military will likely do seperate tests. The issue is that US military wants to design hypersonic weapons that cannot be detected during launch. This is not criteria for Russian or Chinese weapons. The ones they use will be considered failure by US military. Dark Eagal will be launched in a very small launcher like HIMARS making it impossible to tell what weapon is launched.
