US COAST GUARD ACADEMY 1944

Shows Coast Guard boats and seaplanes patrolling at sea and dropping bombs on German submarines.
Cadets drill and march at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
Coast Guardsmen are shown patrolling the sea for icebergs, aiding isolated Eskimo communities, bringing shipwrecked survivors ashore at a lifeboat station, flying blimps and seaplanes to guard a convoy, and aiding in amphibious operations in North Africa and Europe.
Shows Hamilton Hall at the Academy.
Civilians enlist in the Coast Guard, are sworn in, get haircuts, are issued uniforms and equipment, learn to handle a boat, engage in sports and social activities, learn Commando tactics, study, fire guns on a range, take examinations, march during graduation ceremonies, and receive their diplomas and commissions.
