I like how they asked for a permission to get out after a certain number of casualties and did not do the movie thing of fighting until only one guy is left and finishes the mission by himself.

Yea, a 10 person squad can sustain max three casualties. Since you would drop to 7 able bodied, and would lose two soldiers to treating and moving each casualty, leaving you with one unhindered soldier

@@CombatVeteranReacts In an army that wants to heal or bury every casualty sure, but the SCP guys sort of just walked out and left the cleanup to the next team. Incidentally, in manga "Maoyuu Maou Yuusha" (Demon Queen and Human Hero solve problems together), they said that an army fighting in formation will usually rout at about 30% casualties. They'd have to be very disciplined or have no escape route to fight past 40% casualties.

mtf casualty rate is usualy around 60% to 90% and sometimes complete wipeout. dicipline or courage doesnt matter when what youre up against can/will kill you whatever you run or fight. and the mtf does its job no matter what because theyre the only ones capable of it.

@DDS810kmi To be fair to Besson, he maintained enough control to recognize that some unknown cognitohazard was affecting him. That he could control himself well enough to kill himself to protect his team is a fantastic display of willpower against something that might make Cthulu seem like a character out of a Dr Seuss book.

I believe the Providence op is a reference to H. P. Lovecraft and Cthulhu, as Lovecraft lived in Providence most of his life.

Everybody that watches always reacts to the TL getting hitmaned, or basson shooting himself. Nobody ever pays respect to random inner cordon guy who just got yoinked out of existence in the blink of an eye.

Providence Operation is just a made up named for a previous Operation that these operatives and their respective MTFs have attended to. Also, Evan Royalty made another SCP Film called "Dollhouse" which is the prequel to Overlord way before Overlord was even in production. Dollhouse has different characters as well. Also Rest in Peace Besson, the man didn't deserve that gruesome death.

To further illustrate why initial retrieval duty sucks major doodoo, looks like these guys ended up dealing with some kind of minor deity class entity instead of just some anomaly. This universe is filled with minor deities like this that just show up sometimes and cause a bit of havoc.

MTF or mobile task force in scp are very interesting and have a specialty of there own, if the first scout failed and the anomaly aint contain they will review the data gathered and send a specialized MTF that deal said anomaly for example if said anomaly is beyond human they might send the tau 5 also known to the fans as power rangers. If the anomaly got the attention of 05 council they will send Alpha 1 and etc. If the anomaly is beyond the foundation control they might issue a use of other scp or issue a execute order but these orders are very rare. To answer some question I saw from part 1 - to finale, MTF do use paranormal or anomalous weapon, the thing is the foundation is very thorough with handling those weapon because last time it create an scp that can destroy realities and the other create more anomalies. Why guns its basic equipment and low chance to create a side effect or another catasthrophic anomalous effect this is why some of them use old looking tech you will never know if said anomaly has great effect on advance technology. Can Ghost be shoot by gun?, well it depends on how strong reality holds the ghost, in scp universe they have a level for that, if reality holds stronger even ghost can be shot. In conclusion the foundation in front papers look like this unorganized or a low ball organization but behind they do there job seriously until Doctor Bright got drunk or a outside or inside force interfere.

I really enjoyed your videos over the others I've found on youtube for these shorts. I think what really sets you apart is the fact you actually explain the reasoning or purpose behind the things they do, along with adding stories about your time overseas in action. A lot of the other ones I've seen give me the feeling that they haven't actually been deployed for anything "serious" and were just overhyping their own bad-assery after passing training. Your videos were super informative and take into account it was a small budget scifi film with amateur actors. Not gonna lie, it was a big plus just to watch someone have a positive and excited reaction instead of spewing negativity. Also huge shout out for pointing out the differing body types, think it was the second part. I grew up on military bases and never ended up completing basic training but you were on point about special forces/military guys having wildly differing body shapes. It's really rare to see shorter, stockier guys or the skinnier taller guys getting featured, when in my experience, half of my military parent's armoured platoon were scrawny looking thin guys with patchy mustaches and not chiseled Captain Americas haha. Keep up the good content, gonna have to go through your other videos even though I'm not a 40k fan.

Providence op, and the idea of a bas relief and weird cults, are a reference to HP Lovecraft’s work, who created the cosmic horror genre of which this, and much SCP literature, is a part. HPL was from Providence Rhode Island, and set stories there and nearby.

Eta-4 definitely a fan favorite.

Love how you took the rules of the world established to recommend what yoi would do. Rotating the camera in the middle, debating about other options when you only hsve yhr camera, and still recognizing they need to make sure the door doesnt lock behind you was awesome. Great balance between practical, supernatural, and film making breakdown. Hope to occasionally see this with other short films or movies.

Something I'd want to see more of from SCP fan films is how MTF protocols adapt to account for weird shit. Reminds me a bit of a guy I knew whose base in Afghanistan, just for the fun and practice, devised protocols for a zombie outbreak. When they asked the local afghans if they already had anything like that in place, said afghans just went "what the fuck are zombies? Do you have those in the states or something?"

great video man, about your question, the characters show up too in Dollhouse, his previous film, but i don't believe the two stories are related since they cover different SCPs, i'd 100% recommend checking out dollhouse, there's a lot of tacticool stuff to talk about on that one too.

In this situation, we know these things push gases around we saw that when the one on the ceiling started moving towards the team, so I would just distribute some form of visible gas and look for unnatural movement.

Searching the dark basement with the night googles was the right thing to do? Or finding a light switch or use torches would have been better?

Best option for you is the NVG's, but keep the White Light ready to use in case your NVG goes down. (Like in Dollhouse)

NVGs is mostly the primary use for dark/low-light situations. Just a way to gain the tactical advantage so that Operatives (Especially MTFs) are able to spot hardpoints quicker than their adversary.

@@signor_zuzzu to answer your question. Most modern day NODs have built in turn off functions. The tubes in night vision are really sensitive and of course, expensive. for example, the PVS31 series will immediatly turn off if its to bright so the tubes dont get damaged. I believe most of them can automatically adjust how bright they are for the viewer. And most important, they used NODs to clear the basement cause it just fucking looks cool

The reason I like the paranormal entities they encounter in the house is they aren’t standard horror movie “oooooo you can’t shoot them so they’re scary” ghosts or whatever they are, you can just put 3 rounds of 5.56 in them and they’re down for the count

I think the reason for this is that they’re supposed to be the cultists who’ve somehow done some ritual to become a supernatural being but I guess their “overlord” forgot to give them the ability to not get shot

I would love to see you react to scp MTFs explained, or you yourself looking at the wiki and just analyzing some of the MTFs and how effective you think they are, the scp universe differs from Warhammer in the fact that it maintains a realism and strategy. Something that should be noted in my opinion many MTFs suffer from over specification, being specifically designed around one singular anomly or place, and makes them useless in any other situation. To be fair this is nescary with some anomlies as they very drastically.

Wow perfect timing just got done with part 2

Awesome reaction Sir. The SCP in the film seems to be an Eldritch Horror. They are horrid monsters of unspeakable evil, dedicated to the eradication of all that exists except for each other and those that worship them as gods. Those that worship are usually transformed and become part of the entity, which would explain the two monster cultists. Eldritch Horrors come in many forms, shapes, and sizes. However, they are usually identified by their tentacles which they use to feed on their victims. They feed on animals and people exclusively, resulting in an increase in size with each meal. The one in Overlord must have been feeding for some time to grow to that size. The special ability of this one seems to be the power of invisibility. I've personally never heard of an invisible E.H but the thought of it is just as scary as being able to see one normally. Now the real question is how the hell did it get there? The answer was in the dead cultist's recording in the basement. They found a Bas-relief, which we see briefly see @19:48 . Bas-reliefs are sculptures that are projected slightly from the stone. Almost like a primitive holograph. As you can see in the time stamp, where the stone would be is just a black void with something semi visible in the middle. The lore behind Eldritch Horrors are that just by looking at it, they will cause a person to go mad and possibly commit suicide. I think Besson saw the Eldritch Horror's face and killed himself as a result. I'm willing to bet, if they were allowed to explore the room where the Bas-relief was, they would see holes throughout the room caused by the thing's tentacles. While it is terrifying, they can be killed by conventional weaponry. However, with something that size an Incineration bomb is probably the best option. Any surviving piece of the horror can eventually grow back to a large size if it finds enough victims so they will need to make sure they drop something on it with enough punch. To answer your question about the camera. Eldritch Horrors can cause adverse effects on items, places and people. Since the cultists used the camera during their rituals, then chances are the horror's effects gave the camera the ability to see it. The house was even effected with the strange markings all over the walls.

at the end, the guy with teh camera "was going mad as he went into the trancendent plane" but since he was an MTF agent he had cognitohazard training so he offed himself before that could happen

Okay I want to ask, the enemy side already killed one of them but the ROE, changed to firstly try non hostile then hostile ? I mean if it kills one of your team member shouldn't it just be fire at will ? I am confused.. but anyway I like the video as in your take on scp movie very good..

I see the confusion, but maybe only that one entity was hostile. Or maybe I didn't realize it harmed the MTF operative, or maybe the MTF was hurt by a different entity altogether.

My guess is that after they managed to kill one of those anomalous entities with the help of the camera upstairs, there was an off-screen communication/discussion about how to proceed. Since they now had more information about the nature of the threats inside the house and how to fight them, it was decided that it was worth the risk to test, if possible, if any of the entities could be incapacitated with non-lethal means, possibly with the idea of capturing one of the entities for further study.

I'm starting my script for my own live action SCP related short film. I've got a few ideas on how to push it all further down the road here in terms of MTF equipment and such. I also want my MTFs to actually give a shit about each other. Their far to happy to...leave a man behind . that doesn't sit well with me and my own military back ground.

I think the lack of info on the type of wound when Besson gets called up to treat that guy is cuz MTF's get killed in some pretty weird ways. Like try to describe someone warping to another existence or getting possessed would be hard to relay over the radio lol.

Three Casualties is a good day for MTFs. SCP treats them like goddamn kings (and the odd queen, MTF is almost exclusively male but there are some female operators like Omega-7's Operator Thompson. Omega 7 is nicknamed Pandora's Box because they were an experimental unit training Humanoid SCP's to become combat, recon, field anomaly forensics, or containment units) because their casualties are so high and it's no wonder. They're usually the people making contact with the anomalies with incredible brain melting powers before all the eggheads with the fancy pieces of paper get to touch them.

Pretty sure Besson's patch is the Hole Stuffing Specialist from Weapons Grade Waifus. Got that same one on my med pouch lmao

It looks like besson got effected by a cognito hazard which mean if you look at it you go insane or some other thing, there's also memetic hazard which means being near it effects you,and info hazard which is if you know of it in any way it effects you. There are a few other hazard like your standard radioactive,biological but some of the fun ones are HUME hazards which are things that effects reality in weird ways like space and time break down in the area or a room is too big on the inside compared to the outside.

It's just a theory, but the the idea is the bas relief statue is a conduit of some sort with entity, the same thing that causes those people and the symbols to be invisible outside of the camera. The camera is also in turn connected to the bas relief statue and when using both on each other may have created a feedback loop causing insanity, possession loss of control or whatever.

Cameras can detect frequencies that most other things and or people can’t. Things like ghosts or similar in nature have these certain frequencies thus the camera can see them.

14:43 the thing here is they only be able to see them with the camera, and it seems like they only possess 1 camera and the camera man obviously can't stay here, because they need him to move with the team.

Yeah, I've always had a problem with SCP task forces always being depicted as being "hi-speed operators" in tactical gear. It makes no sense in the context of a lot of SCP's being basically supernatural problems that can't just be shot at. They only really make sense if you're expecting human adversaries, mortal SCP's that would actually die to bullets or you just want to keep _other_ human factions from prying into your business. Like their mission would make _a lot_ more sense if their objectives were to secure the area for quarantine, confirmation of human hostiles and/or retrieving evidence. Once you accomplish or fail one of these, GTFO. In most cases, it'd make a lot more sense for the Foundation to send in surveying drones or something of that nature instead of mobilizing an army. The SCP Foundation is mostly concerned about containment and scientific study, not being American cops who never found a problem they didn't like murdering. They're one of the factions that are philosophically less aggressive against anomalies as a rule, unless an SCP is so extreme and dangerous to merit that consideration. But otherwise generally consider attempts to destroy things you don't understand as an act of hubris, because trying to destroy what you don't understand, especially when that thing is _supernatural_ can backfire spectacularly. There are other organizations who are more aggressive about this, but the Foundation isn't one of them. It's just kind of weird to see the Foundation always being depicted in such a militaristic light. I don't picture them pulling out the soldiers unless they legit expect beef with rival factions or a major threat that they know is mostly physical in nature and have green lit for extreme measures.

Well the foundation operates on two different levels, research and intervention. task forces are deployed to recon an area of perform specific tasks. While many anomalies may not react to guns or may be entirely immune to their effects, guns are a tool like any other and it can be a powerful one. Many anomalies are affected by bullets and it can be a good way to ward them off your team. Moreover, as much as anomalies are a cornerstone of each deployment, they aren't the only possibility. Regular humans, potentially agressive or disoriented. Animals and creatures from whatever environment or dimensions you find yourself in. You are dealing with reality breaking phenomenas in circumstances that even your best minds can only guess. Solid coordination, to-the-point actions, and as versatile a toolset as you can give a guy to survive and move through this environment, and this does fit the sort or coodinated group of trained professionals that composes the taskforces. You entrer a potentially hazardous area. You may run into scared humans, dangerous infrastructure, agressive entities, memetics hazards and unknown layouts. One thing is for sure, the last thing you want is to send the eggheads before the area is reconned and mapped out. Once you at least have established the nature of the anomaly and how to contain it, then the research begins. But you can't do one without the other, and it's just that Overlord and dollhouse do not touch on the scientific aspects because they were not meant to.
