Hey! I just graduated this year and they are INCREDIBLE. Also, the blades at the end of their weapons are called bayonets, and we’re historically used on the front lines of a battle to allow soldiers to be effective in the case of close quarters combat. This means if they were no longer at a distance to be able to fire at the enemy, they still had a blade on the end of the weapon to keep them safe. Also, the way they lay their hands flat on the rifle is reflecting inspection of their weapons, which happened when they were trained.

When I was in Navy boot camp (1974) my Company Commander (Drill Instructor) had once been in a rifle drill team, and he insisted we learn a lot of rifle moves. He drilled us for many hours, and after a good number of injuries, we got pretty good at spinning, tossing and twirling our M-1 Garand's all over the place. Actually, only about 20 of us made the cut, and the rest of our company marched around us as we performed our act - it was fun, though I did take a number of rifle butts to the head and shoulders.

Wow! Such a beautiful performance. The crowd in my opinion is disrespectful to the "Silent" Drill Team. Way too much hootin' and howling from them. It is awesome what the men are doing. People should learn how to respect those who are performing until they have finished. Then all of the cheering can be done. The men deserve respect while they are doing their routine. Other audience members may have the same thought. You're not able to get the full effect of the sounds made by the Air Force with the movement they do along with the sounds that come from the rifles and the speed. Listen to the beginning of A FEW GOOD MEN and you'll see what I'm referring to.
