Sathyan Edathodi has been in the field of Uru (fat boat) making for the last 35 years. The master carpenter is currently building two Urus for a buyer from the middle east at his workshop in Beypore, where this unique craft has been existing for centuries. He spoke to ARPO regarding the vanishing practice of this Ur, which is arguably the largest handicraft in the world.
