Uriah Heep and Nazareth are the two most highly underrated rock bands of the 70's. They both should be in the hall of fame.

Gary Thain's bass playing made that band what it was during that early 1970s period

Very sad, that only one of these members is still alive (Mick). All the others have passed away... Definitely legendary and one of the very best bands in Rock ever! Thank you Doctor Jazz&Rock for making the KZread Release.

Выступление на сцене, это праздник не только для зрителей, но и для участников, которые и создавали это ШОУ, как сказали бы сейчас ! Конечно у Байрона бывали ,,переборы'', но это издержки творчества и славы, ведь Дэвид был Уникальным Вокалистом, опередившим, как и вся Рок-Группа, своё время, и обладал завораживающим, порой Мистическим Вокалом, что прекрасно отображено на записях студийных альбомов. И потом, не он один был грешен, и не только этим........ Светлая Память Всем, рано ушедшим музыкантам Rock Band «Uriah Heep» !!!

The great Gary Thain was one of the first to die in the early days of Uriah Heep, if I recall he died from a heroin overdose. RIP Gary Thain.

Thanks for posting this, Doctor Jazz&Rock. Uriah Heep is one of the absolute best live bands ever! Legendary line up David Byron, Mick Box, Ken Hensley, Gary Thain, Lee Kerslake really deserves to be called legendary. They were simply fantastic!

Впервые в жизни услышал их в 1975... Одна из любимых групп.. Видел остаток от Хип в 2019 в Гамбурге - с Мик Боксом..Ну шоу было на уровне, но это уже не то... 🤘

Кстати в Киле в 2008 на " Неделе Киля" побывал на концерте Назарета... Метрах в 15 от сцены был... Жара, духота погода Дэн Маккаферти пел с полотенцем на шее, пот градом катился...но с перерывом на 15 - 20 минут все 1,5 часа играли... Лепота... 👍

А мы смотрели в Бельско-Бяле в 2012 году. Уже без Кёрслейка, но еще с Болдером (предпоследний его концерт). Это было здОрово

Highly underrated band. I was in my mischeavious adolescent years when they hit their hight. Sweet was another great band. Thanks for sharing.

Sunrise is such a good song. Gary Thain was like the Jaco of rock bass. John Wetton was the best replacement for Thain they could have ever hoped to get. Such a great band.

Saw Heep in Passaic NJ with Wetton he and Byron got into an altercation on stage Ken Hensley kept them apart! Maybe not a great fit 😅 but Byron had drinking issues. I didn't exactly see what happened but Wetton wasn't in a good mood 😮

Gary Thain! Qué bajista por Dios! De lo mejor que he escuchado. Parece un primera tocando un bajo! Su trabajo ha sido subestimado hasta el ridículo, sólo esta perfomance en Japón, luego publicado en el álbum doble negro en concierto del 73, sería prueba suficiente para el ingreso al hall de la fama del rock and roll. Gary Thain fue increíble. El y no otro, forma parte de la base rítmica que hizo de Uriah Heep lo que hasta hoy es. Una banda clásica, una legendaria banda de rock and roll!

I saw Uriah Heep twice here in Cleveland where they enjoyed a strong following. Wonderworld tour UH was the headliner, 2nd on the bill was Manfred Mann's Earth Band and opener RUSH in one of their first big time appearances!!!

This is 'Tokyo 73' only in the visual sense, as the audio is from the official 'Live 73' album recorded in Birmingham, England a couple months earlier.

When I was little kid I bought 2 import albums Atomic Rooster and Uriah heap ,

What the fuking great band this was and I saw here In Finland about four years a go Mr Box and their drummer Kerslake was there others RIP FANTSTIC BAND 🇫🇮👊🤪😜

50 years later, and I hear that they are still wearing the same pants.

This line up was simply the killer! Afther 50 + years still comming back to this live record from the 1973 and it is a one MUST have in every good music colection R.I.P. for the dead CHEERS for Mick

" 'ery 'eavy" , "Salisbury" and "Look at yourself" are my three favourite Heep albums . Although the ones that followed are more highly regarded these three to me were the band at their best .

Ages ago I went to see Heep with Rory Gallagher warming up!! Unfortunately Rory cancelled and Earth Wind and Fire was picked to replace Rory? Didn't go over well Heep and Rory fans weren't amused 😅

My apologies to all those who might not agree with me, all these guys were wonderful musicians, but David Byron was Uriah Heep.

Lee Kernelake, the best singing drummer ever in rock. Yeah, I heard about that country folky band from California with a guy singing behind the drum kit. That was pop country MOR stuff.

I bought this album as a kid in either 73 or 74, just on the recommendation of the guy at the record store, and when I heard the first cut Sunrise and then into Sweet Lorraine, I was hooked. The sheer energy coming off the vinyl was really remarkable, all the tracks really. As a young guitarist, I usually noticed mostly the guitar players (was listening to Jeff Beck, Leslie West, Clapton and Jimi of course, Robin Trower, John McLaughlin, Joe Walsh, etc.) but what actually jumped out for me the most was Gary Thain (no disrespect to Mick Box who fit that band like a glove). When I think of great bassists, it's usually names like McCartney, Squire, Stanley Clarke (terrifying physical ability!), Geddy Lee, Dale Peters JPJones, Jaco, Larry Graham, Tony Levin, etc. - I should remember to include Thain in my list because he really was a monster player, you can clearly see and hear that he just had full authority on the instrument and added all kinds of really great melodic material that still worked perfectly with the songs. What a tragedy that addiction took him at such a young age.

This is not from Heep in Japan.

And run dmc is in the rock and roll hall of fame 🙄

Ah, the same era that Mick Taylor and Billy Prestin were touring with the Rolling Stones, and Paul McCartney and Elton John and Neil Diamond and Yes and Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and Jeff Beck and Kiss and Uriah Heep was way cooler than Chicago.

Loved them in the era, once David was gone, they went downhill, JOhn Wetton was adequete, after that, unlistenable

Organ in bands like this ruined me giving them a chance. Just drowns everything else out
