It's easy for her to put makeup on because she doesn't have any acne. Whereas people like me with a full face of them will have to have lumpy concealer-covered skin.

Love this video, I guess people are annoyed that she's advertising her products, but it's her channel, and why wouldn't she advertise it. If you can't afford her products, you don't have to use them to achieve this look, buy cheaper things from the drug shops, seriously people make a big deal over self-advertising. If you think her products are too expensive, contact her directly in private, you don't need to just blast it out without having a solution. Also she has done videos where she has done make up looks using products under $20, and showed us cool tricks i.e using lipstick as blush, eyeliner as eyeshadow, lip liners as lipsticks, powder foundation for contoring, and eyeshadows for highlighting. Go to those videos if you have a problem with her using her own products. People just complain for the sake of it.

***** Consider it this way, if she doesn't use her own products, people may think she doesn't believe in the stuff she sells. Would you want to buy something that the creator of the product doesn't use? Don't fault her for doing a little free advertising. She's a young woman who has come a long way. Now she's looking to turn her passion into a business.

She isn't even shoving in people's faces to use her brand, she's just saying like "use a shadow of this colour", "use you favorite product..."

People are such whiners! I subscribed to her BECAUSE she tries different things with makeup rather than sticking with what's safe and natural because they give me inspiration. This look may not be for everyone, fine but the endless amount of negativity is crazy. She does not just appeal to the really young girls, I know plenty of women ages 20 and up who watch her videos. There is nothing wrong with using her own products either, if you had a makeup line wouldn't you use it all the time too? When watching makeup videos I hardly ever use the same products as the gurus anyways, I use what I have. Keep making videos michelle! I still consider you to be one of the best makeup gurus on youtube :)

i completely agree. especially on the aspect of using her own makeup line. Of course she would use it, because she was involved in the process of making said products and is probably convinced of their quality. looking at it from this perspective, it would be a really bad idea NOT to use her own products, for it would mean she does not believe they're good enough. so i don't really see the point in criticizing that.

I think she does great using her makeup line. She wants people to know how it works, and that it works. She also doesnt tell you to use a specific color or makeup line, she gives you examples of what you need to use for the look, and tells you to use a similar color.

I swear it... after some of your makeup tutorials I'm half convinced you got someone else to sit in. You look so different after your makeup is done. Fierce, chic, Rebellious. I don't know how to describe it but it's wonderful!

and I always hear "never wear red lips with colorful eyes". Dude, I've got Rimmel 11 which is a blood red lipstick. I'll be rockin' that with that gold, blue and purple.

I think makeup rules are for when you are just beginning with makeup - when you haven't quite built up the courage to just do what you want. Once you start advancing, its less about "rules" and more about "looks" that you want to do. Its just about being creative and doing what you want. That's when makeup becomes less of covering up and more of a way to show yet another facet of who you are.

It’s amazing how when I first watched this video I was in 8th grade. This is the very first video I’ve seen from Michelle Phan and I immediately became inspired. I was like 13 years old and I felt insecure about myself around that time...badly. I remember feeling beautiful and inspired to do makeup and wanting to learn more about it. Not only that but her videos gave me confidence to be comfortable within myself, along with Shameless Maya. Now I’m a senior in high school bout to go off to college and amazed at how much I’ve grown. She was the very first beauty guru that has impacted me in the most beautiful way. I miss her uploads 😭
