Urban Mining for Gold. Processing Circuit boards with a hammer mill and shaker table

Ғылым және технология

We are constantly improving our board grinder system for the recover of precious and base metals from old PCB's and electronics. We are getting very high recoveries of all the precious metals and base metals by recycling these boards with nothing more than a hammer mill and a gravity separation table. We do not use any chemicals or hazardous materials in our processing just water and gravity. For more info please contact us:

I am doing smelting boards using lead right now but for copper smelting and refining method to get PMs their systems are top notch. This is Kevin Jones.

I would think that a lot of the values are picked out with the magnet, such as gold plated pins and Crystal Oscillators. Also I would try to speed up the water in your Hydro Cyclone, I had the same problem on my copper wire set up so I made all the inputs and outputs flush to get the water spinning faster. Have a look at my video showing "how it works". Thanks for another great video and Love seeing all your different set ups.

I believe he said it was roughly 25-50 pounds of boards. He has stated in other comments that the set up can run about 200-400 pounds per hour and was around 85% gold recovered. The assay results video broke it down and figured there is roughly 4.5 Toz gold per ton. At today's rate, 11/07/20, that's about $8500 per ton, just of gold..

Thanks for you question. This machine is not meant to separate the gold plating from the other metals. This machine is designed to remove the metals from the boards which can later be processed to remove the precious metals. We have tested the tailings/waste from the board grinder and currently we are recovering about 85% of the gold, 90% of the silver and other PMs and much higher percentages of base metals. We are working to improve our hydrocyclone design to get a higher recovery of the gold and other PMs. Thanks

I've never understood why people used buckets of expensive dangerous chemicals & acids to process the entire raw Gold Recovery Material rather than small manually separated amounts. It makes recovery WAY more expensive than it needs to be. Even cheap car battery electrolysis effectively & quickly separates gold from base metal plating substrate on PC cards + pins.

Hello how are you , found on you tube Video que has equipment que grinding circuit boards and at the end of this process by separating the metals , including gold , i have a doubt in the equipment , this can Also be done with memory cards ram ? because I am chemist and I am purifying gold of These electronic waste and this equipment is really very good . I 'm from Brazil and so if there is any error in Inglês I apologize , thank you and look forward contact

@@mbmmllc I liked your wet hammermill with the wet shaker table. You ever think about doing car batteries? Drain asid. Add LOTS of baking soda to the water. Seberate lead and plastic.

The irony is in 20 to 30 years the components on the boards will be worth far more intact than the gold they contain (see prices for 1970s microprocessors and memory chips). On the other hand he is doing collectors a favor by making such components less common.

Felippe, once you have concentrated the precious metals in the number one and two ports you will need to refine the concentrates yourself or send them off to a refiner to do it for you.

I think this way for recover precious metals is good, becouse is fast and dont use any chemicals materials. This process get 100% of precious metals? Congratulations! I would like to use this technology in my country. Thank you.

You are losing most if not all of your precious metal recovery with this method. It will either be pulled out with the magnet because a lot of precious metals are plated or combined with magnetic metals, and your machine can't grind it down so fine that it separates plating or micro components that contain both precious metals and magnetic ones. Or it will be carried into your #1 and #2 buckets where it can't be separated any further, unless you use chemicals on your #1 and 2

Hi Bob. Thanks for your comment. The magnetic cross belt used in this video is not recommended for use with circuit boards. This is our recycling line and primarily used for separating ferrous and non-ferrous metals. I wanted to show the larger 24"x16" hammer mill and discharge conveyor as a pre-chopper for some of the larger circuit boards. You are also correct that this machine is not designed to remove the plated gold from the other metals. There is quite a bit of free gold that can be liberated from the chips and other components and recovered on the table, but most of the gold plating stays on the base metals. Notice at about 6:33 all the gold plated pins going into the #1 & #2 high grade buckets. The goal with this system is to concentrate and separate the metallics from the plastic and waste board materials. As you can see at the end of the video the results are almost 100% metal free from contamination. By screening and re-running the #1 on the table you can get a pretty clean gold product that can be melted down and sold directly. The remaining values in silver, copper, gold plating, etc. need to be sent off or refined in house to recover the rest of the metal values. Refiners will pay a much higher amount for these metallic fractions off the table than whole boards themselves. We have run several assay tests of the boards and waste material and have determined that we are actually recovering about 85% of the gold and silver values by using this method. We have found that mother boards have somewhere around 3-5 oz gold, 15-30 oz silver, and about 500 lbs of copper per ton of boards. Stay tuned for more vids. Thanks

"...not recommended for use with circuit boards." I'm seeing you putting MB and other type of circuit boards into your machine. And that magnetic separator, you are gonna get a lot of good and bad stuff picked up. The only best way to process circuit board is my hand. Otherwise, a lot of goodies gets into the trash.
