Urban Inline Skating Flow Plus Outdoor Master Skate Helmet Review

This urban inline skating flow session is just like all my others, except that it also includes my review of the Outdoor Master Skateboard Helmet. I don't think I've ever said it on the channel before, but I have a personal rule I follow that I wear a helmet every time I skate. So enjoy today's awesome flow skate as well as my review of the helmet. Oh, and this was also my first real urban session in the Endless Arc frames! These continue to impress me as a flatland frame that is also great for shredding the streets. They're stable, fast, responsive and just plain fun.

    Getting into skating again, late 30s I am all for wearing a helmet. Finally convinced my S/O to get one. Literally on the way to the bike store to pick it up (on our skates of course), I was hit by a car that "right hooked" me and the helmet saved me.

    Glad you are ok. Yea......helmet is non-negotiable for me. I wear everything, though. We have more at risk at this stage in our lives, and we don't heal like we used to :p I won't ever do aggressive skating for this reason.

    Thanks for the video. I always marvel at how narrow your soulslides are. So, is the verdict still out wether the arc wheels can handle urban skating or not?

  • @rerollinginline

    @rerollinginline

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s a good question, since the middle wheels are only 76mm and are likely to take the bring of the slides Wheel wear aside, this frame is great for urban, IMO. It’s long and stable, but still super agile, pretty fast and low to the ground. The wheels, I’m still wearing down and this video is the only long and intense session I’ve thrown at them so far. The middle wheels are a bit pointy atm, but honestly all my wheels on all my frames become pointy. It’s what happens when you abuse them the way I do. So I think they’re fine so far, but I’ve got a lot of life left in these wheels

    @@endlessblading Yeah, thanks! I'm mainly concerned about wheel wear especially with the ARC cs with the smaller odd sized wheels that'll be harder to rotate to compensate for it. I'm deffo going to get the ARC cs but I'm just trying to figure out it's limitations beforehand.

    How does acceleration feel on Arc vs 90s? I'm interested in city skating and wondering what would be more beneficial: the added acceleration from smaller wheels or lower weight of a 4 wheel setup?

  • @rerollinginline

    @rerollinginline

    Жыл бұрын

    Hard to say without trying each setup back-to-back with the same boots. That’s another way of saying acceleration, if memory serves, isn’t dramatically different. However… if you’re not planning to do any flatland skating, then I think Endless 90 is a safer bet. It’s just a great all-around frame and my favorite for city skating. There are other benefits as well, like wheel rotation/maintenance since there are only 4 wheels and they’re all the same size.

    would like to ask you what wheels are you using and if they have a 110mm version? If not I would also need to know an alternative in 110mm ^^ I'm skating 90mm and 110m but all my skates seem to be to grippy to make the soul slide.... Even with 85A hardness....

  • @rerollinginline

    @rerollinginline

    Жыл бұрын

    This video are 84mm Rollerblade Hydrogen and 76mm Rollerblade Hydrogen Spectre and they’re all 85A hardness. They do have 110mm Hydrogen wheels, but if you want something that slides easier you could take a look at the new Endless 110mm wheels, which use MPC urethane: www.endlessblading.com/products/endless-wheels?variant=43800749736161 I’ve been testing a set of these Endless MPC 110 wheels. They’re a good wheel and easier to get sliding than Hydrogen 110mm. They’re also a great price. Also available are Undercover Team Blank wheels. I’ve never tried the 110, but the 90mm UC wheels are also easier to get sliding than the 90mm Hydrogen. BTW, Endless also makes 84, 90 and 100mm wheels all with Undercover urethane, though the only Endless wheels I’ve tried personally are the 110mm MPC urethane wheels.

    I see you throwing the magic slides a lot more now instead of soul checks. How do you like them in comparison? Do you just throw your hips or wait for the front foot to lose traction before throwing the back foot?

  • @rerollinginline

    @rerollinginline

    Жыл бұрын

    This video is in a particularly hilly town where you gain speed quickly and also need to lose it quickly. Magic is more powerful than soul, so when I need to lose more speed faster, I’ll magic. I still think the best way to learn magic is to learn soul and then learn to transition from soul to magic. That’s how I did it. As you gain more experience, you’re able to tighten that transition window and for me that window is very small to where it seems I’m doing it simultaneously. But I’m still engaging the front sliding foot first. So I guess I’m not “waiting” for the front foot to lose traction because I trust it will and know I can follow with the back foot almost instantaneously

  • @friskyisfat

    @@rerollinginline I gotchu and thanks for the explanation. I am already very comfortable with the soul slide and am starting to incorporate magic, but only on smooth surfaces so far. I find it a lot easier to execute the magic if I just throw both feet, but it's scary. Now learning to initiate with front foot and then let the back one slide near simultaneously as you said. I just find myself doing the splits a lot right now. I think I need to put more weight on the front foot after the slide releases I think.

  • @rerollinginline

    @rerollinginline

    Жыл бұрын

    @@friskyisfat the splits are totally normal while learning. I still split sometimes if I do a sloppy one. The key is getting good support from the back leg. Get that sucker tucked up nice and tight. Putting a little more weight on the front helps as well. The back leg is to prop you up and help add friction, not to bear all the weight.

    I look so goofy with my helmet. I really need to look for a helmet I can wear that doesn't make me feel like a clown. In my area no one is wearing helmets, not on bikes, not on scooters but when they see a skater without one that's somehow different? I don't really care about negative reactions by car drivers, however if I could find a slim low-profile helmet that's comfortable and well ventilated I am willing to give it a try.

    Ok hear me out, in my opinion the most important thing in reviewing a helmet would be the fit, the material aaaaand the most important part is how can you really review a helmet without knocking your head into the concrete?😆 oooor just test what kind of damage it could handle. Cause essentially the looks don’t matter in a helmet but of course not much people would enjoy wearing a space helmet while skating lol. Well, you know what I mean haha
