Jazz Ensemble Library - Grade 4
Here's the ultimate in contemporary funk from Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars! Paul Murtha captures all the style and attitude in this hot chart for jazz ensemble. The melody is skillfully passed around from section to section, and solo options are provided for trumpet and tenor sax.

I don't know why, but this arrangement makes the song sound like the theme to a 70s cop show.

@Deli Sandwich E above the staff is high. Sure maybe not to Wayne Bergeron or Louis Dowdeswell, but to most professional trumpet players, and especially students, that's pretty high. Most classically trained trumpet players don't often play in that register.

The highest note the trumpet hits is an E (Concert D) so I’m sorry about your grades
@hyperstargaming6150
3 жыл бұрын
@@kormagogthedestroyer that’s a little bit too... literal. Take it from the perspective of a student in high school and try to think about it figuratively vs literally. It’s very high pitched to a student to play that high, yeah? Sure an E isn’t even possible in grading and lower than that is an F, but we want to talk about pitches plus perspective of the listener, I’d say he’s got decent grades for a high schooler. Probably B’s and a few A’s.
I absolutly love this song especially the sax and the trumpet
Performed this yesterday for our year-end concert. Definitely one of the most fun songs. Well for trombone at least. Trombone 3 represent!

I was driving home from marching rehearsal casually listening to random band arrangements, as one does, and this one comes on and I instantly think how amazing the vibes would be if we played this in my jazz band, (we played September by Earth Wind and Fire last year at an outdoor concert) I play trombone and my BD has me playing trumpet parts because we only have 1 and I can only imagine

Paul Murtha is a genius. I'm in an advanced band in middle school and we play grade 3 music (which is high school level, but that's why we're advanced) and multiple songs that we've played have been arranged by him. Great guy
I am very disappointed that the first trumpet part does not have a full 12 measures of pure ledger notes. :(
