"Upside Down" Hooping - Fast or E-Z Frames - Stockings, Small Bags - Machine Embroidery Tutorial

In this video I tried to quickly show you how to secure a hard-to-hoop item onto your Fast or E-Z Frames. Small cosmetic bags and stockings work great with this method!
I used sticky stabilizer for this tutorial.
I used Embrilliance Essentials software to create the name using my own fonts. (affiliat elink) www.embrilliance.com/jamaffili...

(affiliate links to frames) Fast Frames (I have these but only use the 7x7 on occasion): amzn.to/3oAfFse & E-Z Frames (I use these 99% of the time): amzn.to/3pyxes6

OMGoodness that just saved me from having to throw an $18 6inch bag away! I was able to use shears from back, to remove tiny name, then used this method to do one 3 times bigger! I put cut away inside bag to cover the cut out mess, and the new name stitched it down perfectly. I’m so happy!!! Tks Melissa!!!!! I’ll never take apart, and resew another stocking!

I got my multineedle machine about a month ago and am saving up for my fast frames....I stumbled across your video, while researching fast frames and today I tried this method on my regular frames to stitch a name on a stocking and it worked!!! Woohoo! Thank you!

Thank you so much for this video as I have ruined a stocking from pottery barn. I always hated my fast frames but am beginning to get the hang of them. And thanks for having your camera close to the subject and speaking loud enough to hear .

Wow! This could be a game changer on my Bernina Free arm machines (B700 embroidery only & 590 Embroidery/Sewing combo). I have been making tote bags and have had to open the linings and the seams because I couldn't pull it back enough to clear the stitching area. The free arms on these are like a sewing machine and can handle tubular items like onsies that open on both ends, but the way this is working on your multi needle I should be able to do the same thing on my machines. Off to try it! So glad I found this. :)

Most call it reverse hooping. I don’t have easy frames or fast frames. I use my mighty hoops to do this- I use a tear away in the hoop and cut out a space for stitching as well.

Personally, I use those green brand magnets that you use on name badges that are super strong. I think they sell them for quilting under the name of sew tites.

She was on needle one for this video but I think it works regardless of needle because your machine brings the selected needle to center before starting.

This was going to be my question. Do you adhere it to the underside of the item somehow? How do you make sure that there is enough stability to hold the stitches?

Some items (tote bags, backpacks, etc.) are heavy and sturdy enough that they don't need a stabilizer behind them. I sometimes float a piece on the back side for lighter weight fabrics. Cutaway or tearaway work equally well.

By doing this, how would there be any stabilizer under your design if you have torn away the sticky stabilizer?

Pam Phelps, the items I’d use this on( little bags, stockings, etc. ) are several layers thick usually, and when in doubt I put a piece of tear away on inside, held in place with 505.

A real stocking would have been so much better. Or something small. 9:27 is exactly why. Still won't try this on a real stocking since I can't see how. It's not the same on the big zipper bag. 😕

You do it exactly the same way on a stocking. Just make sure your stocking will easily slip over the arm with enough wiggle room to move around a bit.
