Check! I've got marzocchi 58mm CCI 2003 production...they're prolly not super complicated...need to replace oil. Still don't have specs for them, but some further knowledge now...which helps greatly. Thx

Hi mate, thanks for the great video some real good tips in this one, I plan on doing mine soon, I imagine your already aware but did you know you can remove the cap by undoing the 14mm lock nut you had the spanner on rather than taking the top of the cap apart, nothing wrong with doing it the way you did and that's how the haynes manual says do it. Just a bit quicker going the other way I think👍

Yes you might be right. The trouble is i see so many videos of chimps with adjustable spanners and i ride other peoples bikes that have rounded up alloy ancillaries that i could simple not deal with i have always took everything part slowly and carefully. I did a set of forks once disassembling in a similar way as you say and the adjuster locked up, ok the fork rebound adjuster was damaged inside but it completely locked up the adjuster and it was not my bike 😬. Cheers for the kind words and all the best with your repairs.

@@TinkerBod yes your right there, doing it the other way you need to be aware of your rebound settings and adjustments or it can go wrong👍

How is the amount of oil determined? I'm interested in how much oil goes into the FZR1000. How do I determine how much oil? Thanks

I phoned up Honda UK, very helpful. It is either measured by volume or distance from top of fork leg when full.

Hi mate! Forgot to ask you last time we spoke, I noticed your forks protrude through the top of the triple clamp a lot more than mine, obviously lowering the front ride height, just wondered did you do this yourself and how did you find it effected the handling of the bike. Cheers john.

Hello John, I have set the bike up for its main use which is track days and the Isle Of Man, they are through the clamps until the last ring/groove. For me 12st it makes the bike steering sharp but not twitchy. I dont think I would want these setting for a daily. Bare in mind the rear of the bike has also been set up, dont do one without the other. Bike has standard internals and springs

@@TinkerBod thanks mate👍 can I ask what you've done to the rear? I also do track riding but am only novice level and am never at the front either🤣 I've adjusted my pre loads for the correct sag, I've just put a new back tyre on to going from a 50 to a 55 to pick the back up a bit but I've not had chance to ride it yet.

55 is what i run racetec k2. I will find my settings they are wrote down in a draw, but a problem the trailer i am currently building is in front of it strapped to the bench as a jig, (can be seen in latest video) i hope to have trailer finished this Easter so can get to it then.

@@TinkerBod ok thank you mate, just one last question please, I done my fork oil few weeks ago and tried to do it the way you did but I couldn't get the preload adjusting lock nut undone from the damper adjuster, my spanner kept slipping off and was starting to round the nut off but my next size down wouldn't fit, for that reason I ended up having to take the full cap off with the damper needle attached, can you remember if you used an imperial/ af spanner to undo it or was you on metric spanner? Cheers john.

Have you got a 'pass through socket' set that is what i always use for that job, metric, just to crack it off. Avoid open ended spanners where you can.
