Ayo why don't you people ever read your books😑😑😑 First evidences of ghoonghat came from Gupta period that was literally centuries before Mughals or British invasions. N British never invaded India to start with. Whatever may be the case but purdah system, sati, untouchability, their very first evidences come from Gupta period. Turk and Mughal invasions amplified these evils for sure but they existed in society way before too. So purdah system very much is an indigenous creation by our ancestors. Grow up. Its so funny that how contradicting things can be. Here in South especially in kerala if you cover your head in a hindu household or temples people will think you are muslim. In Temples its totally fine if you are a muslim or Christian but a Hindu covering head even the priest will be offended.

Terms of reference, we need to respect the customs of each families, you can explain them later stages when they will understand you and same with you, understand why and how that custom came, then express your feeling, people will understand

Well, this is an interview for a upsc candidate, so when the question is asked they see you as future ias officer, if a female ias officer wears a ghunghat, can imagine the impact it will have on the society? People with strong patriarchal backgrounds will start giving her example, and start forcing women even more, when you are at such a great position,each and every action of yours has a huge impact on the society, her answer was flawless!

That is a work for public, choosing right over wrong even if a loved one wants you do so. These are the kind of people we need in Indian civil services who could give up or turn down on anything or anyone for the right path. Tomorrow if the mother asks for dowry, should she give that as well? This is not our culture, time to say goodbye to it even if it breaks some mother in law's hearts.

That doesn't mean that she wants to go in bikini just because she doesn't want to do ghoonghat. There is much difference in these two things. Doing ghoonghat is an optional thing for every woman. We should respect one's choice. This is not a big deal at all. Even her family can't force her to do so if she doesn't want to. Infact instead of trolling her, we should admire her for her bravery, sincerity and confidence because not every woman has the courage of going against their family so, we should have a look at ourselves first before judging others like this.
