Upped my Semaglutide (Glp1) maintenance dose only 5 units! Did it make me sick?

Even after being on it for 5 months and losing 55 pounds I didn't learn my lesson. Lol 😝 I slightly upped my dose and got sick!! But all is well. What do you do when you're feeling yucky while taking this med?

Why did you up your dose? You said you were going in vacation in Feb but I do not see the connection. Thanks.

When you say your maintaining with 15units what is your Mg dose. I take 25units of 1.5mg. I have reached my goal weight so I started reducing my units but still on 1.5mg dose. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Mine was a 5/1 mg/ml vial! So I am taking 15 units on my needle. I’m not sure about the 1.5mg dose? I just started reducing slowly and it was great!

@@KarliSine in Australia we just say 1ml so my dose is just higher at 1.5. For me it’s a little to high as I don’t have much of an appetite at all and I have reached my goal weight. So I want to start reducing my units.

It's been in my system for months, so my body is adjusted to the .15 and I was hoping to up it to lose a tiny bit more before my trip and then I'll come back down. I have gained a tiny bit back. It won't be long term. 😊 But this is a good question!

I have a theory as to why you feel sick 2 days after your shot. I should preface this by saying I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I have read up on the science behind these medication and have been on them for one year. Okay, here’s my theory. When you inject into subcutaneous fat, the medication needs to be absorbed into your body and then bloodstream and then travels around the body working its magic. Depending on where you injected and how much fat you have in that area, the absorption rate may be as long as two days before you reach peak absorption. So, two days after your shot, the medication will be at its highest point in your body, so you feel the effects most strongly. As the medications half life is reached, the effects of the medication wane until your next shot. This is why you can eat more on day five and six after a shot. That is my theory anyway. I have lost 27.7 kilograms (about 60 pounds ) in the last year and have 3.3 kilograms to go before I reach goal and then go on a maintenance dose . I am thinking of stretching the shots out to 10 days to 2 weeks and/or reducing the dose. As someone who has been on maintenance which do you think is the better way to go for you? I would be interested in your opinion.

I really liked being on the shot every two weeks. I might even go back to that. But I love that theory and it totally makes sense to me! I also have a theory not backed by anything but my opinion and observations of all the people I know on it. But I feel when most people who take it feel super suck, they’re more of a “sugar diet” type person. Someone who reaches for sugar more. But others that usually in their day to day eat a “healthier” diet and they don’t have sugar cravings, usually don’t get as sick! I feel that the regulation of blood sugar just affects this. Could be totally wrong haha 😂 just something I’ve observed!

@@KarliSine I am one of those sugar diet type of people I’m afraid. I always ate a healthy diet, just too much as I did not have an off switch. But I find on these meds I am getting quite hypoglycaemic at times and need a little sugar to stop the dizziness. Ice blocks work for me (popsicles to Americans). Also gets liquid in. I will try two weeks when I get there. I have a feeling the last little bit is going to come off very slowly.

I’d agree. I’m a sugar person and have had awful symptoms. I’m only on week 7.
